All right so I've been wanting to write a fanfiction for a while, so here's the first chapter. I know it's not really full of action considering it's in a ninja world, but bear with me it'll get better. I hope. Anyway if you find any grammar mistakes drop a comment and I'll take note of it I'm only in middle school at this point so don't expect perfection.........

A crowd dressed in black was gathered in front of what looked like an altar. It wasn't exactly an altar, more like a long table with a black tablecloth. The black of the crowd was broken only by an occasionally odd colored hair or tattoo. The table, however, was completely black and gray. The black being the previously mentioned tablecloth and the gray being the five framed black and white photographs that were portraits of people. The picture in the dead center was the one that was raised the highest by lumps, probably wooden stands, that were covered by the tablecloth. It depicted a man in about his high forties, who sported what would have been slightly graying blond hair and bright blue eyes if the photograph had been in color.

As it seemed to every time a large funeral was held, rain began to fall from the dark gray clouds. No one in the crowd bothered to try to shield themselves from the plummeting water. Everything was either black or gray. The entire village was in an eerie silence. The seven somber, carved heads on the cliff side overlooking the mountain didn't help. The head on the farthest right bore the same features as the face in the center picture. Short and spiky hair, three lines that resembled whiskers on each cheek..........it was the exact same. The Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki had died in the line of duty a few days earlier.

No one knew exactly how he had died, since all his team members had perished with him. Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Hinata Hyuga, and the former ANBU member known to the public only as Sai. But the reason of their deaths didn't matter. The only thing that mattered was that five of the Leaf Village's best shinobi had just died. The village was now leaderless. One of the most powerful villages on the continent became a vulnerable target overnight.

The only one who couldn't be bothered to go to the funeral or even mourn for the lost leader was the unconscious eight year old girl currently situated on the thirtieth and highest floor of the hospital. She hated being outdoors in the rain. This girl's name is Kansen Reitsui. Some of the elders in the village had always said that her hair resembled that of the Uzumaki Clan's, as in they were both a type of red, but the similarities ended there. While the normal Uzumaki hair was a shade of pinkish red, Kansen's hair was a deep, crimson, blood red. Her hair was splayed around her head, making it look almost as if her pillow and sheets had been stained with blood.

Sleeping peacefully, it was impossible for the young child to look menacing. But lying dormant within her was an ancient and feared power, though most didn't know that it was within her.

Again, things that the public didn't know about. While the common belief was that all five team members had been found dead by the ANBU team dispatched by Shikamaru Nara, the truth was that with the help of the relief team, Sasuke Uchiha had made it back to the village alive. He had carried a sealing scroll, and gripped it tightly without letting go until his final goal had been achieved. The scroll had contained the power that now sleeps within Kansen.

The nine-tailed demon fox.

The raven haired man, after getting the consent of Kansen's legal guardian Senai Kuroka, sealed the beast within the girl.

The evidence of her being a jinchuriki stood out on the smooth skin of her neck and forehead. One magatama shape on her forehead and two wing-like patterns on her neck, one on either side. All three were colored black.
