Uzu yawned, stretched out his arms and wings together. Annoyingly, after spending a week with Hawks, Uzu found it hard to stay in bed like he usually would. “Insomnia used to be a lot more fun when I didn’t actually want to do anything.” Slowly forcing himself up, it took all his self-control to not go for a fly.
Walking along the beach, Uzu ducked out of the way when he spotted Akiko. Uzu might not want to lie in bed but that didn’t mean he wanted to do laps around the beach. Peeking over the stone wall, Uzu let out a sigh of relief. Akiko hadn’t spotted him.
Uzu raised his eyebrow in confusion, Akiko wasn’t running laps? That’s… peculiar. Akiko was swinging some kind of staff around her, shifting between the stances. Finally stopping, she took a deep breath and looked up to the sky.
Uzu wasn’t sure what Akiko was thinking about but whatever it was she was thinking about it incredibly deeply. Her eyes were clouded and distant.
She snapped out of it when her phone began to ring. “Haven! Morning. Yes, I’ve been keeping up with my training. No, I haven’t broken the glaive yet… no… I haven’t thought of a name. Listen, are you going to lecture me all day or do you actually want to talk like normal people? Got any more stories for me?” Akiko chuckled as she climbed up the steps and left the beach.
Uzu couldn’t hear who Akiko was talking to but he was officially confused. Akiko never picked up calls unless she put it on speaker or had her headphones on. Since when did she use the phone like a normal person?
Deciding there was little he could do about it- without admitting that he was spying on Akiko- Uzu headed home and got changed for school.

Naka groaned as he hit his head on his desk. “Everything hurts.” Naka shifted looking around the classroom in confusion. “Where’s Akiko?” Naka wasn’t quite sure what to do. Akiko was always at school early. Kirishima wouldn’t arrive for another half an hour and Uzu wouldn’t arrive for another 45 minutes. “This is weird.”
After twiddling his fingers for 10 minutes, Naka decided to do something productive. He pulled out his sketchpad and doodled. He didn’t usually draw while at school but he wanted to make some improvements to his hero costume and that was best done through drawing.
“Hey, Nakabro! Morning!” Kirishima smiled, his sharp teeth showing.
Naka glanced up, beaming at Kirishima as he closed his sketchpad. “Morning Kirishima. How was your internship?”
“It was epic! I interned with Tetsutetsu! He’s so manly!” Kirishima tightened his fist, tears in the corners of his eyes. Overdramatic much. “What about you?”
“Oh, so-so. I destroyed Ectoplasm’s agency.” Naka chuckled as Kirishima blinked in shock.
“You did what?!” Akiko slammed open the door, a murderous glint in her eyes. “Alright Have, I’ll have to call you back.” Akiko clicked off her phone, storming to Naka’s desk. “I thought we agreed to not destroy any more buildings!”
“I didn’t do it on purpose! Chicken attacked us!” Naka threw up his hands as Akiko froze.
“Chicken? You were attacked by a chicken?”
“Not a chicken, Chicken. There were three hundred chickens if we talk about the birds.”
Kirishima shared a look with Akiko who shook her head. “Did Alfie hit you on the head too? I’m pretty sure none of that made sense.”
“I didn’t hallucinate it!”
“Sure. I’m not paying off your debt this time. You’re on your own.”
