dad sent me to the moon ☂

We make our way outside, where rain is torrenting down on the patio in heavy droplets.

'Great,' Luther grabs eight umbrellas from the basket beside the door, tossing one to each of us. Klaus takes the classy pink one, which is frankly quite iconic if I do say so myself.

'How do we do this?' Alison passes the urn to Luther tucking her hands neatly into her pockets.

Luther clears his throat, holding the urn like it's some kind of sacred treasure.

'Whenever you're ready dear boy,' Pogo says calmly, adjusting his own umbrella onto his shoulder.

And with that, Luther ceremoniously dumps the ashes out on the ground. It lands in a small, sad, grey clump and we all frown down at it.

'Probably would've been better with some wind,' Luther remarks, staring at the depressing lump of Dad.

'Does anyone wish to speak?' Pogo asks. We exhibit our right to remain silent. 'Very well. In all regards, Sir Reginald Hargreeves made me into what I am today and for that, I am forever in his debt. He was my master and my friend, and I will miss him very much. He leaves behind a complicated legacy-'

'He was a monster,' Diego interjects with a small scoff. 'He was a bad person and a worse father.'

'Diego-'

'My name is Number 2,' Diego says. 'Because our father couldn't be bothered to give us actual names.'

'Would anyone like something to eat?' Mom asks gently, obviously unable to read the room.

'No, it's okay Mom,' I say.

'Oh, okay.' She backs off.

'Look, if you wanna pay your respects, go ahead. But at least be honest about the kind of person he was,' Diego finishes.

'You should stop talking now,' Luther says coldly.

'You know, you of all people should be on my side right now, Number One,' Diego says, moving forward.

'I am warning you.' Luther's voice hardens.

'He had to ship you a million miles away,' Diego continues.

'Stop talking.'

'That's how much he couldn't stand the sight of you!'

Luther grabs Diego's arm, aiming a punch. Diego ducks, and the two get into a tussle.

'Boys! That's enough!' Pogo warns.

Unfortunately, they don't stop.

I roll my eyes.

'Come on big boy!' Diego taunts.

'Stop it!' Vanya shouts pointlessly.

'Hit him! Hit him!' Klaus yells.

Pogo literally turns around and leaves.

Luther tosses Diego to the ground but he tumbles to his feet.

'Get. Off. Me.'

'I don't have time for this,' Five says.

With a crash, Ben's statue comes tumbling down.

'And, there goes Ben's statue,' Alison sighs, walking away.

Diego pulls out his knife, and that's when I know things have gone too far.

'Alright, stop,' I say, using my powers to bring both of them to the ground.

They land on their butts, soaking wet and slightly humiliated.

'You had no right-' Diego roars.

'Did I?' I fold my arms. 'Because it looked like you were just about to kill your brother.'

'I was handling it just fine,' Luther narrows his eyes.

'Right,' I say. 'I'm done watching you fight. Do whatever you want.'

I storm off, leaving them to their 'mature' brawl.

The scar on my leg sears suddenly and I wince.

Wow, I literally just had a Harry Potter moment.

It's not like I have a 'curse scar' or so to speak. When I made the mistake of telling Dad it hurt he told me-

'It's all in your head, Eight.'

Maybe he was right.
