☂ maybe they're here for Kenny's birthday ☂
I draw the line while bowling with children when the thirteen year old boys start staring at me like I'm some foreign creature from another planet. I can see Five watching me from across the bowling alley, but whenever I look up at him, he looks away.
Well, two can play that game.
'Nice job,' I smile at one of the kids when he manages to get a single bowling pin down. 'Better luck next time.'
The kid rolls his eyes, handing me the ball. 'Let's see you do better, woman.'
I sigh inwardly. This is not what I pictured my last day on earth to be like, but whatever. What did I picture it as? That's highly classified information.
Tossing the bowling ball, I twirl my fingers behind my back. It goes straight at the pins, knocking them all down.
'Lucky shot,' Someone mutters.
'Is it?' I raise my eyebrows. 'Hand me another one.'
I toss it backwards this time, flawlessly hitting all the pins. They all fall with a satisfying clatter, disappearing behind the board. I manage this three more times before Five strides across the alley towards me.
'Alright, Y/N, shows over,' He places a hand on my arm. 'Let's go, okay?'
'Is he your boyfriend?' One of the little girls asks. 'He's kinda short.'
I glance up at Five, who is a good two inches taller than me. 'Yes, he's my boyfriend.' I smirk at him. 'Come on, babe, five more minutes.'
'No,' Five doesn't budge. 'The world is ending, and you're bowling with children.'
'You're a children too,' The girl sticks her tongue out. 'I don't like him.'
'Neither do I,' I mutter, rolling my eyes. 'Fine.'
We leave the children standing confused, heading back to the bench.
'Where's Luther and Alison?' I ask, looking around.
'They went out to the phone booth.' Five says quickly. 'We need to talk.'
'They're still out there?' I inhale. 'Wow. Must be a big phone booth.'
'Y/N,' Five says, looking at me.
'What?'
'I'm going to say this quickly, okay?' He says, slightly on edge. 'I care about you a lot. And I'm going to do everything in my power to stop the world from ending, but if I can't, I just thought you should know. You're everything to me. I'd hate to lose you...again.'
My breath hitches in my throat. 'I care about you too. And - we are going to do everything to stop the apocalypse. You don't have to do it all by yourself, okay?'
Five nods, his expression going back to it's normal 'I don't care'
'Now, where are the rest of those idiots-' He glances around, where Diego and Klaus are sharing a bowl of chips at the counter. 'Hey losers! We're going now!'
Diego looks up, his mouth full of chips. 'Right now?' He frowns. 'But we're not-'
A loud gunshot fires.
All the people start screaming and running for the emergency exit. Several men in combat gear rush in, aiming at us. I send them flying to the side, but more keep coming. Bullets fire from all directions, and I can't stop them all.
'Shit,' Five swears. 'They found us again.'
'Maybe they're here for Kenny's birthday?' Klaus suggests, ducking behind the counter. We crouch low, as the bullets keep coming.
'I doubt it,' I hiss.
