"Night Fury," I said quietly.

"Dragons are kind, amazing creatures that can bring people together," Tufflout told me while giving the dragon a nice scratch. "Just let me show you."

"Okay," I answered. Something inside of me made me trust Tufflout after this small amount of time. "Show me."

Tufflout jumped onto the dragon's saddle, andthe Night Fury grabbed me in my claws. We rocket towards the endless sky, wind whistleing in my ears. The Night Fury dropped me, and I tumbled down towards the earth. The hard, solid, earth. I screamed, knowing this would be my last moment a living, breathing, person. I thought of the village. They thought I was a screw-up, but I still missed them in my last seconds of-

Swoosh! I stopped falling. My eyes were squeezed shut. The warm breeze persuaded me to peel my eyelids back. I was... flying.

My breath caught, unable to find the words I wanted to say. The sky was magical, the burning sun shining joyous rays down on Berk. "Once you earn a dragon's loyalty, there is nothing a dragon won't do for you," Tufflout said in front of me, his back facing me. "Blueflame here is my best bud. We've been through thick and thin together. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for him, and there's nothing he wouldn't do for me." Tufflout's voice was filled with a fondness that could only be described as brotherly love.

"How were you able to train a dragon?" I asked astounded.

He thought for a moment before answering. "That is what you must find out for yourself."

"Me?"

"You have the heart of a chief, and the soul of a dragon. Only you can bring our worlds together," he said with a certainty I had not been prepared for. "This is who you are, Hiccup. You just don't know it yet."

"I'll be right behind you if you need any help," I reassured Little Hiccup, encouraging him to enter the cove, his recovered shield in one hand, a new fish in the other. He slowly edged himself towards the cove, the shield protecting him. It became stuck between the the rocky walls, forcing him to move forward without the shield in his hand.

I didn't need to see to know Tiny Toothless was crouching on a boulder, shifting his shoulders as if ready to pounce. Toothless stiffened, he could sense his other self was preparing to attack. I ran out to to the the Night Fury in the cove, quickly paralyzing him momentarily with a few scratches near his jaw before Little Hiccup turned around. He dropped, rolling off the large rock onto the hard earth. Little Hiccup pivoted to face the source of the noise, approaching Tiny Toothless and I. The dragon was unfazed by the small tumble he took, too blissful to notice. "When he comes to his senses, give him the fish," I informed Little Hiccup.

He did as I told him. Tiny Toothless approached cautiously, narrowing his eyes when lighted flashed from the small dagger underneath Little Hiccup's brown fur vest. Little Hiccup slowly reached for the knife, the dragon growling at this motion. He removed the dagger from its holster, dropping it an arms distance away. Tiny Toothless gestured with his head, to put it further away. His pupils rounded when he heard the plopping sound as it submerged in the water.

Once more, the boy presented the fish to him. "Huh. Toothless. I could've sworn you had- " Little Hiccup commented as Tiny Toothless showed his lack of teeth, before unsheathing them to chomp down on the fish. "Teeth," my other self finished. The Night Fury approached him, figuring he had more, causing Little Hiccup to sit back against a large rock protruding from the ground. He couldn't help from making a sound of disgust when the creature coughed up the tail of the fish. Reluctantly, he took a bite and swallowed, pleasing Tiny Toothless. He smiled at the dragon, which was clumsily returned with a gummy grin. Little Hiccup reached a hand towards Tiny Toothless, who growled with slitted eyes, gliding to the other side of the cove.

"This is hopeless," I sighed, sitting down on the rock. I picked up a stick and started to draw the injured dragon in the dirt.

Tufflout stood beside me. "Why do you say that?"

"We've been here all afternoon, and I've gotten nowhere with him," I resigned.

I didn't pay attention to the soft pounding of feet behind me. "Are you sure about that?"

It was then that I felt the Night Fury behind me, watching my movements as I sculpted the ground with my stick. He waddled away, only to return with a small tree in his mouth. The dragon started to draw, scribbling in the dirt. He hit me in the head with the tree's branches at one point. Once finished, he gave a satisfied nod, proud of his creation.

I stood in the centre, able to make out a face. Me. I stepped on one of the lines, and the Night Fury growled. When I lifted my foot, he relaxed, purring. I tested this twice more, geting the same result. This time, I stepped over the line, and the happy dragon remained calm. I put my feet in the untouched areas, searching for the next spot to place my boot. So focused was I on steeping in the gaps, it wasn't until I felt his breath ruffle my hair that I realized he was behind me.

I moved forward to see him properly when I turned to face the toothless dragon-- Toothless. In that moment, he looked wise beyonds his years, and I felt as if I could unravel the secrets of his soul if I stared into his eyes long enough. Slowly I extended my hand out. Toothless moved back slightly, growling a warning. I brought my hand back to my side. Maybe... Looking away, I reached out to Toothless once more, my eyes closed. Scales touched my fingertips. Opening my eyes, I saw that I was not imagining. He retracted himself from my touch, sharing a last gaze with me, before he snorted and glided to another part of the cove.
