Curiosity fills you as you look down at the envelope in your hands, not knowing who it's from as there is no return address. You take it with you into the kitchen of your apartment, slight excitement filling you as you take a knife from the drawer to open it. The suspense is killing you with every rip of the paper until the letter is free. You pull it out quickly, tossing the envelope in the trashcan beside you as you jump up onto the counter to read it. The feeling of anticipation quickly turning into heartbreak, concern, and surprise as you read the name of the person who sent the letter. Cordelia Goode. It triggers a flashback in your mind and you close your eyes as you remember it.

You were both young when you first met. You were 16. You were already residing at the academy before she turned up. You'd only been there for a few weeks though and made little to no friends. No one wanted to be your friend as you were the only witch there not being of Salem descendent. It was a regular old morning; you had eaten your breakfast, had a shower, and now you're sitting on the deck outside your bedroom as you read a book. A mist of red hair catches your eye and nosily, you peer over the railing. You find  Myrtle having a brief conversation with the Supreme and a girl your age who seems to be really upset. Your eyebrows furrow in confusion as you try to figure out what could be wrong, but then you shrug and get back into the adventure that your book was taking you on.

The light in your bedroom turns off and you turn your head to see Myrtle. "Y/N, dear. What have I said about these lights?" She scolds but in a kind manner, the girl by her side still wiping away at her face with her white sleeves. "Now, go say 'Hello," Myrtle encourages the girl, "She is your new roommate after all,"

The girl walks over to you shyly. "Hello, I'm Cordelia Goode," she introduces herself, her hand out in front of her politely and you couldn't help but grin at her,

"Hi, Cordelia." You take her hand, "I'm Y/N. Y/N Y/L/N. You must be my new roommate, huh?"

"Hm." She nods with a small smile on her lips and she turns to see Myrtle gone and frowns.

"Hey, why don't we read? What do you like reading?"

"Oh, I'm a sucker for Shakespeare."

"Really? Good that I have Romeo and Juliet then," you say as you head over to the small bookshelf in your room and your fingers trail along the spines of the books before finding the correct one, "Here, Goode" you say handing it to her, she grins at the use of her name and you both sat in silence as you read together.

Over the next three years, you had begun to realise that Cordelia wasn't interested in looking for her own Romeo but you instead. You had your first kiss on her eighteenth birthday, after spending the evening together in the greenhouse as she worked on various different potions, she had managed to make up a truth concoction for a spiced-up version of truth or dare.

"Are you sure this is okay to drink?" You eye the vial wearily, as she just grins at you, biting her lip.

She shrugs before looking over at the kitten sitting on the table, "I don't know, what do you think Binx?"

The cat lifts his head up at her and meows as his answer and you roll your eyes at her, "I can't believe you named him after Thackery Binx from Hocus Pocus."
