Bianca's pov.
Yolanda held my hand as we walked into the yard. I have to confess that I am nervous, very nervous.
"You ready?" Yolanda asked.
"Yeah" I mumbled knocking on the door.
"In!" I heard mama shout.
We nervously walked into the house, which was cleaner and brighter than we left it.
"Y'all can go take a bath while I finish cooking" She smiled weakly.
"Yolanda you are allowed to you any bathroom, except the one in the guestroom. Your dad will settle in there for a while" She said turning to me.
"Definitely, Thank you Mrs. Evans" Yolanda said.
"Cut the formality, call me Brianna" She patted Yolanda's shoulder.
"Where is he anyway?" I asked.
"Resting in a more comfortable bed" My mother winked.
"Perfect" I smiled as we walked away.
She seemed okay and a suitcase of guilt was removed from my shoulders. I feel better although I still need to have the last conversation about what we were fighting about and maybe hear her admit that other days she made everything worse. Right?
"Can I bath with you or you need um... Space?" Yolanda asked looking away.
"Go get your toiletries, we are using my bathroom" I said walking into my room.
Yes it really feels good to be home, although the weekend seems to be ticking away pretty quick.
Yolanda's pov.
"Um... Yolanda can I have a word with you" Bianca's mother said.
"Sure" I walked towards her as she chopped a few veggies.
"I am really sorry about what you witnessed or even heard earlier."
--"It's totally okay" I interpreted.
"No honey, I am really sorry. I will indeed improve my argument skills and have better ways of communication" She said.
"Yes ma'am" I replied impressed.
"And I have something up my sleeves as an apology, A birthday celebration" She said smiling.
"She'd love that" I replied excited.
"I need you to help me pull everything together, I have already invited her Aunt and she said she'll convince your aunt too. I hope that's okay" She said.
"That's perfect!" I smiled.
"The water is ready!" Bianca called from the stairs.
"You better get going" She smiled weakly.
Remorseful, that is all she is.
"Where have you been?" She asked.
"Promise you won't laugh" I replied planning to lie.
"Well, I had to help a few fellas out of my anus" I smirked and she busted into laughter.
"Why use the longer route with details, you should have just said you were pooping" She said still laughing.
"My apologies" I laughed as I stripped off my clothes and joining her in the bubbly bathtub.
"Tomorrow huh?" I said trying to get a few ideas from her.
"Well, I'll just turn 17" She said.
"Honestly baby, Dad is my birthday gift. I wanted him to be home and nothing more. I am happy with just that" She added.
"Perfect" I mumbled.
Bianca's pov
"Food is ready!" Mom exclaimed from the kitchen forcing me to pull away from a kiss with Yolanda.
"Let's get going" Yolanda said as she walked to the door.
Yeah she is a little pissed, She wanted a quickie, I couldn't allow it. Both my parents are home and I respect them enough to not moan anyone's name in their presence.
"I love you" I whispered to her and her face lightened up.
"I love you too" She replied.
The smell of well cooked chicken took me on a trip to my childhood.
"Chantel I am home" Dad would shout from the sitting room and I'd run from wherever I was to come hug him.
Every night when I walked into the kitchen I would find mom's whole attention buried on the stove while the aroma filled the kitchen.
"Where you go?" My mom asked.
"Back to the past" I laughed.
"Looks like my plan worked, Hope you'll enjoy it" She winked as she walked towards the dinning table where Yolanda had a conversation with my dad. It was cute to watch.
"You know Bri Bri, Chantel's friend is talking about how great of a cooker you are. Remember when you cooked for the 8s to get away from the nonsense" Dad reminded my mom and suddenly her cheeks glowed and she laughed.
"Well thank you Yolanda" Mom laughed and paused for a while with a smile on her face.
"Well Enock, I remember that day very well. Your boss admitted to loving my cooking and I landed myself a mini job at his mansion" Mom laughed.
More memories were thrown across the table and yes my mom was participating and looked pretty happy about her husband being back.
"Those days are over though" Mom said.
"I know I have grey hair but it's not like I will die tomorrow. We still have sufficient time to make up for all the years we lost" He replied looking at my mom and looked away.
"I don't know about that" She mumbled.
"Wait until I am mentally stable and I'll rock you all night long" He said making my mother giggle.
"Yolanda and I are still here" I said and they laughed louder.
"Well you are both over sixteen and someone I know is turning 17 tomorrow" He said making me smile.
"Right" I replied with a smile.
"I'll wait for a birthday letter like I have done so many times" I added with a smile.
"Not this year, I have a few cents I can spare and we can go out for breakfast so we could talk and I officially meet the new you" He said, Yolanda and mom raised their thumbs in approval.
"I'd love that" I replied to him and he smiled.
"I really kept the cotton candy promise" Je said.
"Really?" I asked excited.
"Like the old days, you'll only get it after finishing your good" He smirked.
"Well dad, I finish a pizza box on my own now" I said making Yolanda blast into laughter.
"Pick your favorite pizza place, looks like we'll compete in that tomorrow" He announced.
"Mmm, sure!" I laughed.
I turned to look at my mother who has her eyes fixed on us. She was smiling all along. She was looking pretty and less pale and troubled.
"You both need enough rest, I'll help your mom with the dishes" Dad said, Yolanda and I left the room.
"Good night!" Yolanda exclaimed and they simultaneously replied.
And now I am looking forward to tomorrow's day.
