You let yourself be swept
Believing he would catch you
Allowing his words of false assurances
To cloud your already muddled sight
To silence your nagging gut
To sink the cupid's bow deeper in
Poisoning you with the bittersweet elixir of loveSunlight clung to your bodies as you laid entwined one morning
Your heart infected by lovesickness
You convinced that the cure laid with him
You were falling deeper into his gaze, grasp, and charmsWhile he fell further into the idea of love
Falling in love with his reality of you
Wielding you as a shield to dash
recent and distance memories awayWhen you were thinking of him
His mind was plagued by the others before you
Unseen ghostly figures closing in for the kill
You unknowing until his once warm gaze grew coldNot a cold that comes with the swift gust of the North winds
But a cold that blooms with the passing of time—
Slicing whatever was between you two
Leaving you as the collateral damage
