The sea was our vision
The dock: our solid ground
The sun and stars our guides.

View the waves That would And lift us up
As living things Sweep us away To greater
Heights
But as airplanes and years
Drove us from each other's arms

You grew far away
Seas of bodies were your vision
The narrow city streets became your solid ground.
The sun and stars are masked by smog.
And I am left alone, missing you
Imagining us as children
Looking out to the sea
Our bare feet standing on sacred ground
The sun and stars within our arms' reach.
