Out to the mountains
She calls
Into her mystical forest

Her arms wide open
Welcoming all
Into her silken curtains

As she holds you close
Time stays afloat
Worries slip away

Doubts become fairy dust
Thrown into the castle moat
Reality is left behind

Life is your say
You shall lead this boat
You're here forever to stay

Velvet robes
And emerald floors
Her beasts shall keep you safe

Upon the golden throne
You shall lay
As she tells you endless tales
Keeping you forever entertained

It's all over though
When piercing through your eyes
He kills the moon
And fantasy says goodbye

The pain comes back
So does the anxiety
As your dreams fade away
And you're forced back to reality

My heart began to pound against my ribs as a million thoughts swarmed through. I really needed to get out of my head before I started overthinking and making wild assumptions. Without thinking, I let my impulse take over and ended up dragging Paige into the forest. She startled a bit, but didn't protest and followed me. Soon, we both were engulfed by the forest's warmth.

Sunlight shone through leaves onto the velvet grass, making it seem as if we were setting foot on emerald. Crisp leaves floated around every now and then, with the occasional cool breeze. The trees closed in as we got deeper into the woods, protecting us. The forest seemed so welcoming; it was magical.

It was like I was in one of those fairy tales that grandma used to tell me when I was younger. I always wanted to be a princess wandering through a mystical forest and today I was finally getting to live my dreams. It felt precisely like what I had imagined it to.
Closing my eyes, I let mother nature flow through me as I became one with the forest. The trees spoke, telling tales of past travellers. Grass danced with our footsteps and the wind played with our hair. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if I found Winnie the Pooh's house or a bunch of elves.

In awe, Paige's hand disconnected from mine and we both took in the mesmerizing beauty.
My body seemed non-existent to my soul. It felt like I was floating through the universe. Time became nothing but a mere concept and all my worries melted away with the sunlight.
Reality slipped away, only to be experienced truly.

However, my trance was short-lived as a rude twig snapped rather loudly beneath my foot, bringing me back to this universe. I cursed the darn branch in my head and tried to continue admiring the masterpiece before me.

My pace quickened and my eyes desperately tried indulging in the forest's admiration. Leaves blew past me and I inhaled the musky wind, feeling nauseous from the overwhelming smell of dirt. I decided to move to a different place and look around.

I twisted and turned in every direction, trying to find the magic. I couldn't though.
Something felt... different. I turned towards Paige to point this out amd see if she felt the same. As I did so, I realized why it didn't feel the same. It was then, that I gained realization of my solitude in the forest;

I was all alone...
