The Lost Memories

Choice

*Leo*

As Eiji looks up at his opponents who is now at sky, suddenly the black lance hits Eiji on his chest. The lance penetrates from his chest to his back. A lot of blood is coming out from his wound. Without giving it a second thought, I give Minori to Charlotte before rushing towards Eiji and put his head on my laps. "Eiji! Hang in there!" I call out for him. I look into his eyes. The colour of his eyes start to fade. This is bad. If the blood doesn't stop, he will die because of losing too much blood. I call out medic to help out Eiji. The man named Kuro, lands on the ground slowly, looking at me with innocent smile like he never do anything wrong. Urgh! I hate him! "Looks like it's my win. As promised, Gallete is mine." he smiles. I grit my teeth, holding Eiji close to me.

*Eiji*

What is happening? I... I can't open my eyes. Something is forcing my eyes to shut completely. It's completely dark here. And cold too. Maybe this is the world for the dead one? Heh! Looks like I've already dead without remembering anything except my own name. I notice a ray of light leading to a door. I get back on my feet and start walking towards the door. I look at the door closely, there are some patterns of animals on it, dragon, bird, mermaid and what is this? Is this a golem? I touch the door slowly, examining the patterns closely. Suddenly, my name appears on the door and the door opens by itself slowly. I take a quick peek inside the room behind the door.

A tall dark figure is standing at the end of the room. Is it an enemy or ally? Better keep up my guard. I walk towards the figure quietly, trying not to make a sound at all. It sigh when our distance is around one feet. Did it notice me already? This is bad! It turns his whole body around me. It appears to be all black from head to toes and it also doesn't have any human parts except a mouth that it uses to communicate with me. "You arrive at last, Eiji. Seriously, what take you so long?" it moves closer to me. I take a step backwards, a precaution that it might launch an attack. Seeing my reaction, it laughs hardly but that doesn't make me to lower my guard. "I see... You've already forgetting about me, eh?" it stops awhile, trying catching his breath after laughing so hard. "Let me tell you who I am. I am..." it continues.

*Leo*

Kuro holds out his right hand. "Will you fulfill the promise that has been made?" he asks. I look at Eiji, his eyes' colours still not coming back. The medics are trying their best to help Eiji. "I will if Eiji's condition has stabilised." I still look at Eiji's face, trying to buy some time. "I see... I shall wait." Kuro put down his lance on the ground. Eiji... Please wake up...

*Eiji*

What? Did I hear it wrong? The dark figure giggles. "Yes, you heard me right. I am you. More specifically, the dark and evil you who you try to forget. Each time you fall into despair, I'll gain back my body slowly. So, please fall into despair often okay?" it lets out a creepy giggle. "But, that is not why I'm calling you here today." it continues. I gulp, waiting what my counter part of me will say. "On the table behind me, there are two items and I want you to choose only one. The green sword will restore back your strength to your former glory, breaking the chains that binds you all this time." he explains. "Wait! There are chains around me all this time?" I ask. He lets out another giggle. "Just right before 'that' happened, you casted a magic to restrict your power in case you would be used by the wrong people since you know you will lose your memories after 'that' happened." he explains. Just before I want to ask about 'that', he intercepts with the explanation on the dark sphere. "This dark sphere will restore only your memories back and your former strength will never return." he ends his explanation.

"So, what is your choice? You can only take one item with you. When you already take one, the other you didn't pick will be gone completely. Take your time and think of it slowly." he waits. I open my palms, looking at both of them. I can only choose one and I will lose the other one. What should I choose? My strength or my memories? I take a deep breath and face him. "I already made up my mind." I say to him, clenching my fists tightly, hoping that I make a correct choice. "What is your answer?" he asks. "I choose..." I take a deep breath.

*Leo*

This is bad! Eiji's pulse and breathing rate are dropping. The medics try saving Eiji, using various ways just to keep one percent chance of him to stay alive. I rub the sweat of the nearest medic. I see he's doing his best to save Eiji, I give the medics team all of my faiths that they can save him. I know that they can save Eiji. I just know it.

*Eiji*

My counter part suprises hearing my answer. "Are you sure you want to choose that item? You can still change your mind if you want." he tells. I shook my head. "I'm fine with it." I tell him. "You're really are a weird person. Fine, I shall restore 'that' to you. But, before you leave, let me warn you something. The real villain is near you. And, when you drop your guard, I shall take over your body." he giggles as I am forced to leave from the room by unknown force. I open my eyes and I realise my head is on Leo's laps. The medic team suprise to see my wounds are completely healed. "This is miracle!" they scream. The other troops are cheering for me. I nod and stand up on my feet. I rub Leo's head and smile at her. "Thank you... I shall repay your kindness now." I thank her.

I focus my eyes on Kuro, who is seems to know that I will be standing in front of him again. "Let's continue where we left off, shall we?" Kuro invites. I nod and take my position. I take a deep breath and try to focus on my strength. Kuro picks up his lance and flies up to the sky. This technique again? He throws his lance to my direction. I quickly sidestep from being in the direction of the lance. I turn my face back. Wait! Kuro isn't targetting me! He is targetting Leo! If Leo dies, there will be no person will be able to replace her to be the ruler of Gallete. I dash towards her and grab her into my arms.

I manage to save her in the nick of time. "Kuro! This is fight between us! Don't you ever involve other people in this fight!" I yell at him. I know his answer, an innocent smile. I look at Minori, she is waiting for me in Charlotte's arms. "Minori! Let's go!" I command her. She nods as she fly towards me. Our bodies start to glow and we completely been fused. I put down Leo and ask her to wait with the others. "Minori, can this form grow wings?" I ask. "Yes. Like the dual swords you made yesterday, just focus on the shape and it will happen." she explains. I nod as I take a deep breath and begin to focus on the shape of the wings that I want. Immidiately, a pair of red, hot, burning wings emerge from my back. I try flapping them together, testing them first. I focus my eyes back on Kuro, who is ready for air battle. I clench my fists and fly towards him, ready to take on any attack that he might throw.
