Y/N POV
I bounced my knees anxiously and grimaced at Amber's screams.
We were sitting in the private waiting area that was in front of Amber's room. This hospital floor was for royalty only. Thomas, being the King of Ecrington, made Amber the Queen.
I was mostly nervous because of the way Amber was screaming. She must be in extreme pain, but soon she'd have her Princess cuddled up in her arms.
"I'm so glad I don't have an uterus." Chris grimaced next to me.
I giggled at his remark. "Yeah. I bet you wouldn't be able to handle the pain, Captain America."
He turned to me with wide eyes. "You watched them without me?"
I laughed at his reaction. "Well, I wasn't going to fly all the way to the United States to watch movies!"
"But you would've done it with me!" He was smiling, too.
I bit my lip and spoke in a lower tone. "Yeah. But I didn't feel like we were on good terms for that back then."
His face fell, and I immediately regretted bringing up the past.
I kept bringing it up because I was afraid that the same might happen now. Chris and I are on good terms, I guess. And what happened in the garden proved that we still love each other. I was afraid that he'd leave and our relationship would be over. Again.
"Chris... will you leave again?"
He furrowed his brows. "Do you... want me to leave?"
I shook my head. "Of course not. I love you, Chris. But it's impossible for us to be together."
This time, he turned his entire body to face me. "Why is it impossible?"
"Because I can't leave Davia. I'm the Queen now. I can't just go. And you're an actor. Your career and jobs are in the US." I looked down at my lap. "I can't force you to give it all up for... what? For me? Not worth it."
Chris used his finger to lift my chin, forcing me to look at him.
"You're more than worth it. I want this to work, Y/n. The past three years are proof that we'll never stop loving each other. And if being with you means that I have to quit acting, then so be it. I've been thinking about doing it, anyway."
His confession made my heart leap with joy. I didn't want him to quit because of me. But if he's been pondering about retiring from acting for a while now, then this would be the best for him, too.
"Why do you want to quit?" I asked.
Chris shrugged his shoulders. "I've been thinking of settling down. Have a family and live a more low-profile life."
I chuckled. "You realize that if you quit and we make this work, you'll become King someday, right? I don't think that's a low profile."
He smiled at me. "Maybe not. But you'd be by my side. And that's all I want. I'll get used to royal etiquette eventually and lock myself up in the castle if I don't want to know about the paparazzi." He joked, but my face was still serious.
"That's a very important decision, Chris. Are you sure?"
He took my hand in his and leaned in to kiss me. He pressed his lips on mine softly, making my heart beat fast.
One of Amber's loud screams caught me off guard, making me jolt and break the kiss.
Chris laughed softly, and I followed by giggling after I realized it was Amber.
"I've never been more sure of anything in my life, your majesty." He lifted one of my hands and kissed it.
I bit my lip to stop the grin that was forming on my face, but I couldn't help it.
Would it be challenging for him to adjust to the royal rules? Yes.
But I'd be there for him on every step of the way, making sure that he's as happy at the palace as possible.
A loud cry stole our attention, making our head turn to the door of Amber's room.
I squealed with excitement and squeezed Chris' hands.
The baby was finally born, putting Amber out of the pushing misery.
What would they name the Princess? Will she look more like Thomas or Amber? Many questions flooded my mind, and I was nervously waiting for someone to open the door and let us meet her.
Those minutes were filled with excitement and nervousness, but I felt happy with my life.
Earlier in the night, I became Queen of Davia. I was finally independent and capable of making my own decisions. Also, I'd be able to rule my beloved country and continue to make improvements so our citizens would be even happier.
Chris came back and confessed that he still loves me. This time, he was staying and our relationship would get another chance.
And to make it all even better, my goddaughter had just been born. I couldn't wait to meet her and love her as if she were my own.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the door flew open, revealing a crying Thomas.
"She's here." He whispered.
At the sight of my best friend crying, my eyes pooled with tears.
I stood up and asked, "Can we come in?"
Chris stood behind me and Thomas nodded his head, incapable of saying something. He stepped aside and let us walk in.
Amber was laying down on the hospital bed, sweating, and with the bundle of joy laid in her chest.
Tears fell down my cheeks, and I wasn't able to prevent the sob that escaped my lips.
Chris caressed my back, and Amber giggled at my reaction.
Thomas had already closed the door and was now standing beside me.
"You two are a crying mess." She giggled.
Thomas chuckled and walked towards her, giving both her and the Princess a kiss on their heads.
I walked towards them and looked at the precious face of my goddaughter, causing more tears to fall.
"She's so beautiful." My voice cracked.
"Your majesty, meet your goddaughter Daisy."
I walked closer and leaned down. "Hi, Daisy. You're so pretty." Another sob escaped my lips. "I'm so glad you look like your mommy because your dad is hideous."
We all laughed except for Thomas, who took his revenge by stepping on my foot.
"Ow! Your dad is rude, too!"
He rolled his eyes at me, but I smiled back.
For once, our lives felt normal.
The four of us have gone through a lot to be where we are now. And I'm really proud of them for being so strong throughout it all.
Life was finally being good with us, and I had a feeling that it would remain that way for a long time.
"I can't wait for the day when it's our turn to have one." Chris leaned down and whispered in my ear.
I looked at him with a smile, and eyes filled with excitement for our future.
"Me too." I bit my lip and Chris kissed me.
Earlier, he confessed he wanted to settle down and retire from acting. I knew Chris loved me, but being the person who he chooses to settle down and spend the rest of his life with was a different type of love.
It was the strongest love I ever felt someone give me. And I was more than ready to love him back just as much.
This is the last chapter guys *sniffles*
I'll be posting an Epilogue as soon as possible because as much as I would love to end it here, I think some of you guys would like to know more about their future ;)
