Y/n POV

I bit my lip nervously as I waited for an answer. My mom shook her head slowly and after a few seconds, she softly laughed.

Thomas shot me a nervous look and I shrugged my shoulders. If my mom didn't help us, then we totally screwed everything up. She's gonna tell my father and Thomas' parents about Amber and Chris.

"Sweetheart, you're in love?," She held my hands. "You do not know how happy that makes me."

Thomas chuckled, "She fell in love in two days, Aunt."

He always called my mother aunt because of how much time we spent together since we were kids. My parents were like an aunt and uncle to him, and so were his to me.

My mother smiled at him. "What's wrong with that? I fell in love with your uncle the day I met him!" She chuckled, and so did Thomas.

"And there is no way I'm forcing my daughter to marry someone she's not in love with." She turned to me and smiled.

Our eyes widened, "Really?!"

"Absolutely. I'll talk your father out of it. And I will talk your parents out of it too, Thomas. No matter how much talking I have to do. I never even liked the arrangement. I was planning on objecting at the wedding ceremony." My mom smiled at us.

Thomas and I laughed in relief. I stood up and enveloped my mom in a tight embrace. "Thank you so much, mom. But what about the supposedly good things it would've brought to the kingdom?"

My mom pulled back and placed a hand on my cheek. "What good things will it bring to the kingdom, if their Princess and future Queen is unhappy? Besides, I can sign a decree that unifies our kingdoms in many aspects, without making you two suffer. I'm the Queen, after all. I get to decide." She winked at me, and Thomas chuckled.

I felt my eyes watering and enveloped my mom in another hug. She signaled Thomas to join us, and he did. We all laughed as we pulled back, and Thomas thanked her for helping us. I knew we could count on my mom.

Thomas and I were now walking towards the living room that was near the kitchen on the fifth floor of the castle.

We sat down on the couch, but we faced each other. I crossed my legs, and so did Thomas.

"Let's hope your mom can convince everyone else." Thomas softly smiled.

"I'm sure she will. Dad will do anything mom says." I laughed, and Thomas soon followed.

My phone started ringing, and when I looked at the caller ID, I saw it was Chris. I picked it up and put a finger to my lips, signaling Thomas to stay quiet.

"It's Chris!" I mouthed without actually making any loud noises.

Thomas started making kissy faces and laughing. I just rolled my eyes at him and said, "Hello?"

"Hey, it's me." I could hear him chuckle through the phone. "I just wanted to ask how you were doing and stuff. I can't wait to see you again tomorrow."

I bit my lip and smiled. "Me too. And I'm just hanging out with Thomas."

Silence. "Thomas?"

"Yeah. He's my best friend. He's also the guy I'm supposed to marry." I spoke slowly.

"Oh." I could tell that frustration washed over him as I reminded him of the arrangement. Which reminded me I had important news for him.
