A few weeks after Daisy’s birth, Amber and Thomas went back to their kingdom and Chris went to the United States. He was going to get his things so he could officially move into the castle.

Before he left, we sat down and told our parents that we were back together. As expected, my mother was extremely happy to know that Chris and I were going to give our relationship another chance. And I soon found out that she was the one who had invited him to the coronation. I guess my mother was our cupid.

My father was supportive. He wished us all the good in the world and warned Chris, telling him to never hurt me.

After our conversation, Chris surprised all of us by asking for privacy with my father. My mother and I waited outside of the room while they talked. I was nervous that my father would say something that he shouldn’t, but it shocked me to see them both smiling widely once they came outside.

While Chris was in the United States, I got very busy with council meetings and events around Davia.

During one particular event, I ran into the one and only Darius. Turns out that during the past few weeks, his parents arranged a marriage for him.

They thought Darius and I would get married and last forever. Obviously, that didn’t happen.

Wanting their son to settle down, they married him to a rich, well known woman here in Davia. Who’s actually seventeen years older than him.

I honestly felt bad for him. I knew how being forced to marry someone felt, and I was lucky enough to stop it. Darius wasn’t. And I could see how miserable he felt.

He and I are not friends, that’s for sure. But we’ve grown used to having the other close during royal meetings and important events.

Two weeks later, Chris came back from the United States with more than some clothes. I finally met his dog, Dodger, who has to be the sweetest dog I’ve ever met.

Dodger and I liked each other a lot. To the point where Chris would get jealous and complain about saying that I cuddle Dodger more than I cuddle him. Which was not true. Maybe. Just a little.

He also told me that while he was at the airport, he ran into Rosie.

When she was working at the castle and my father was King, I replaced her with another maid. I still ran into her in the hallways, but at least she wasn’t with me all the time.

Immediately after I became Queen, I fired her.

Apparently, after not being able to find a job, she moved to Germany and started a life there.

Anyway, Chris moved in, and his etiquette lessons began. He learned all the rules and the people of Davia soon fell in love with him too.

He and my father had suspicious conversations, which they never let me be a part of. After a few weeks of their weird behaviour, I found out what it was all about.

It was Friday, which meant it was our date night.

Chris had prepared a romantic dinner on the balcony of our room. He set up a beautiful table, candles, and a delicious dinner.

“I love this.” I gushed, sipping more wine.

I noticed Chris had pushed his chair back and stood up. When I placed my glass back on the table, he was kneeling in front of me.

Could this really be happening?

You should’ve worn a fancier gown. My subconscious snapped.

But I ignored her completely. All I could focus on was the man I love and what he might do in a few seconds.

“Y/n, since the day I met you at the ball, I was mesmerized by your beauty. Only to be even more mesmerized by your intelligence, determination and kind heart. Even though to many people our love seemed rushed back then, it felt perfect for us. And even though we spent years apart, that love never died. It became even stronger than it ever was.”
