Words left unsaid: Mia

"Why wont you open up to me dammit!" I watched as Liam yelled in frustration, pulling his hair with a defeated and hurt look in his eyes

I was getting tired of this, I've tried that but I just can't

"Liam listen okay, I'm trying , I'm fucking trying okay, you don't understand how hard I've been trying. " I tell him, raising my voice

"Then tell me,let me understand!" He yells back

I looked at him, stunned, confused even

"Just...let me in Mia, that's all . I just wanna know the real you, tell me things that I don't know about you, you deepest and most sincere feelings. " he said to me,looking me right in the eye, that's how I knew he was serious

"I've already told you everything." I lied and he knew that

"You're lying to me . Mia please, you're my best friend, I just wanna be there for you,please just let me in. "He  said . He looked like he was about to cry .

I've never seen Liam like that,he's usually always so calm and collected and yeah sometimes he does lose his cool but he never gets emotional

Not like this

"Liam..." I sighed

"I'm trying okay,it's not easy for me . I've never had anybody truly want to understand how I feel,they always just listen or forget or if I do open up I'm pitied . I don't want that, that's why I keep things to myself,I know you're here,I know you're trying,I just have a hard time believing that . It was never you Liam,it's a me problem. " I finally tell him .

I was tired to hiding myself,I felt like nobody knew me and I know it's my fault for never opening up but can you blame me? Everytime I do, they always leave me one way or another. 

I know Liam is my best friend but I guess I still have that barrier around me that even my closest friends cant even get through.

"I'm here for yo-" Liam tried to say

"No, don't say that Liam, you don't know how long you're gonna stick around so please don't make me empty promises.".I warn him

That was a line I was all to familiar with and I'd be damned if I got fooled by it again.

"But I am serious, Mia we've been friends for years yet sometimes I feel like you're a stranger to me.... I-" he pauses and takes a deep breath

"I want to be there for you, I will be there for you, you've just gotta trust me when I say that" he says to me softly, taking my hands into his.

He looks at me but this time it was different, he looked sincere, vulnerable even.

"No matter what, I'm not leaving you Mia and I want you to know that." He finished off.

I wanted to cry, nobody has every been that genuine with me and I usually have a built in lie detector but I knew Liam was being honest.

"Okay, I promise I'll work harder on opening up and letting you in." I tell him

I hope I don't end up regretting this
