A/N: This is a long chapter to make up for my short ones. They're in the Glade, by the way. Enjoy!
POV: Newt
Soft, warm sunlight beamed down on a green garden, brightening the flowers and their muted colors. A gentle breeze brushed the blonde boy's face, the cool air providing a second of relief for him. Sweat dripped down his face and onto the soil, his filthy hands gripping a shovel.
He had been working for a while, trying to break through the hard dirt to plant some carrots. Zart was working next to him, silently picking food from the earth, like usual. Newt would've been doing the same, focusing on his job, but instead, he found himself staring at the new Greenie.
Thomas. He was so gorgeous; how could you not stare at the boy? The brunette, messy hair, curios brown eyes, the freckles that dotted his face. Everything about made him look like an angel. And he was so sweet and caring. It was impossible not to love him.
The breeze stopped, leaving Newt exhausted and hot again. He almost groaned, but went back to pounding at the rock hard ground instead. That's when a voice broke through the silence.
"Need any help over here?"
Newt immediately recognized the voice. It was Thomas. He glanced to his right, blushing a bit, to find the boy looking at him from afar with a small smile. Newt was kind of startled, and almost dropped his tool, but stopped himself before it could happen. His face flared up, cheeks turning bright pink. Play it cool, play it cool, Newt thought to himself, giving the boy a smile.
"Sure," he replied, his voice steady, to his surprise. "There's a shovel by Zart, by the way."
Thomas picked up the tool, then walked back over to the garden and started to pound the ground with Newt. Newt was impressed by how strong he was, watching as the boy cracked the dirt with ease.
"There ya go," he said. "You're doing great."
After a while of trying to dig into the ground, the hard dirt had turned into soft, brown soil, and was ready for planting. Thomas gathered a bunch of carrot seeds and began to put them in the ground. Newt followed his lead, and eventually, all that was left to do was cover everything up. Newt swiftly covered the holes, but as he was covering on, Thomas's hand brushed his. The blonde boy freezed, a weird floaty feeling engulfing him. The touch was brief, but electric, enough to stun the boy. His face was a deep shade of red. Embarrassed and fluttery, Newt willed himself to get back to work, avoiding Thomas's gaze. But out of the corner of his eye, he thought he saw the Greenie...blushing.
Newt's mind raced. Why was he blushing? Was he embarrassed? Did Thomas... like him? The thought made his heart flutter and gave him butterflies. Did he? His hand was still tingly from Thomas brushing it, and Newt had a feeling the feeling wouldn't go away anytime soon.
The blonde had fallen for the Green-Bean. And fell hard

Bright, twinkling stars sat in the dark night sky, illuminating the stone walls. Red and orange flames blazed beside Newt, the warmth of the fire like a blanket keeping him warm. Thomas sat beside him, resting against the huge log, staring off into the distance. Minho eyed the two from afar, holding a murky drink in his hand. What were they up to?
The blonde was going to break from sitting in silence for so long and decided to try and start a conversation.
"Whatcha lookin' at?" he asked, trying to follow the boy's gaze, but failing. Thomas looked at him, a grin growing on his face.
