This was harder than he had anticipated.

For the last two weeks, Taehyung had been in a weird cycle of hormonal imbalance. Despite Seokjin having told him that ruts were inevitable and that suppressants would only calm him for a temporary period of time, his rut hadn't continued as he had thought it would.

After his emergency visit to the hospital, his body had considerably calmed down. He couldn't lie saying that he hadn't been mortified the rest of the night, lying awake and waiting for the heat to engulf his unprepared body once more.

However, when morning came and the sun shone on his very dry and very sleep deprived eyes, he came to the realization that his rut never came. For a second, he believed that perhaps the effects of the suppressants still lingered in his system, so he waited, and waited, and waited, and before he knew it, a day had passed and he never felt more ordinary in his entire twenty-five years of existence.

What if the suppressants that Seokjin had given him worked too well?

Concerned over his body and the absurd, yet still terrifying possibility of having ended up impotent to some scale, Taehyung had called Seokjin in a panic. To his relief, the doctor had explained that the medication he had given him wasn't strong enough to cause any severe damage to his system, however, it also wasn't supposed to have a lasting effect. And that brought all worries crashing against him once more.

The young alpha did go for a check up that was highly recommended by the beta doctor, but much to his disappointment or relief, his results had come out as perfectly normal.

He was convinced his body had decided to go back into hibernation and that perhaps he could go back to his seemingly uneventful life. That was until he found himself facing high gates and being led by a man in a suit towards a living room twice the size of his shared apartment.

Taehyung remembered the words that Seokjin had shared with him no more than a couple of days ago. The whole reason why they even had that conversation was living in the same house he was in at the moment. How had he forgotten about it?

In his defence, the past three days were nerve-wracking to say the least. He had completely forgotten his entire schedule and that included the tutoring he had three days a week.

Days in which he had tried his best to avoid the alpha that lived in that house. For the most part, it wasn't necessarily mission impossible. Jungkook was a reserved man and most of the time he was there, he spent it in his office. Taehyung was always cautious to maintain a safe distance between himself and the door that separated the two of them.

Avoiding thinking about the possible pure blood wasn't too hard either. The hours he spent in that house were mainly consumed by the high school girl he tutored. His only reason to be there at all. Kijung was a sweet and very kind girl. She had a very comforting aura and managed to keep Taehyung's mind away from her elusive brother. For the most part.

Kijung was indeed very nice and Taehyung did try his best to concentrate on his job at hand. The girl was smart and didn't overwhelm Taehyung with too many questions, despite him being more than happy to answer any questions his students had. She was also funny and polite, quickly forming a friendship with the alpha and slowly growing comfortable around each other's presence.

However, no matter how many anecdotes the two shared, or how delicious Kijung's homemade cookies were, Taehyung would more times than not, find himself wondering what was the other alpha just a few meters away up to. He had long given up on finding any flaws in the man, besides his horrible personality. Jungkook was his definition of everything he desired in a man, which was surprising given the fact that Taehyung had never felt attracted to alphas in the past.
