“What? No, you know I can’t go into—” A groan interrupted his ranting as he felt the tightness in his pants growing increasingly uncomfortable.
“Well, you surely are right now.”
“Hyung, what should I do? It hurts.” His voice was strained and he was panting heavily as he clutched the thin sheet covering the bed.
Seokjin turned to look through a shelf filled with different boxes of medication. He pushed a few boxes and took one, taking out a bottle from it before grabbing a syringe, ripping the packaging and filling it with the medication.
“An alpha’s rut is something that can’t be stopped. For now, I can give you some suppressants, but the effect won't last. You have two options and I’m sure you know them very well.” Seokjin explained as he injected the suppressant, taking effect almost immediately as Taehyung’s body visibly relaxed until he was lying flat against the bed, his sweaty bangs sticking to his forehead.
“We’ll give you a moment. After that, I need you to tell me everything that happened today. This is not normal.”
Taehyung didn’t say anything, nodding weakly as he saw the blurry figures of his hyungs disappearing behind the door.
“What’s going to happen to him?” Namjoon asked once they were out of the office.
Seokjin crossed his arms, shaking his head slightly. “I’m not sure. His condition is already very rare, there is no telling what will happen to him. For now I’m more concerned about how he got in this condition. I’ve treated Taehyung for almost six years now and we’ve tried everything. This is the first time I’ve seen him like this. And I have a feeling it’s not just from his new treatment.” He sighed, his eyebrows furrowing as he closed his eyes.
A pressure on his forehead made him look up. Namjoon was pressing a finger to his forehead, smoothing the creases in between his eyebrows. “You’re doing it again. You’ll have wrinkles if you keep frowning so much. And you keep talking about Yoongi hyung.”
The elder chuckled, lightly smacking Namjoon’s shoulder and looking away slightly flustered. “Didn’t you say you were meeting with your boss? What’s with the sweatshirt and overalls?”
“Yeah… about that, he called me when I was out with Hoseok. He called suddenly and more or less demanded my presence.”
“Did something happen?” For a second, a flash of worry crossed the doctor’s eyes and Namjoon had to look both ways before pulling his arm and leading them to an empty room. “Namjoon, what is it?”
“Nothing’s for sure now. But for the past weeks, there’s been suspicious activity. Omegas have been disappearing from the territory.”
Seokjin frowned, crossing his arms. “Police know about this?”
“No. Every case up until now has had an excuse. Vacation, school trip, family outing, every excuse in the book for not being around has been presented. Police won’t move, but we believe it’s more than just that. Something’s not right and he knows it.”
A low sigh escaped Seokjin’s lips and his eyes began to wander around the room, a habit he had whenever his mind ran miles ahead of him. Namjoon knew this habit perfectly fine and was more than aware about his susceptibility to overthink.
“Hey, it’s going to be okay. We are going to get to the bottom of this, get those omegas back safely.” Namjoon ran his hands over the elder’s arms, soothing the wrinkles on his white lab coat.
Seokjin managed a small smile, not wanting to worry the other man. “Yeah… we should… we should check on Tae. He must have calmed down by now.”
