Chapter 6

In My Feelings - Lana Del Ray

It wasn't until 6:55 rolled around that I realized I was scared, I couldn't lie. I had no idea of what to expect. And I hadn't been on a date in a while. I tried to dress up but couldn't decide on my hair. Soon it was 7:00 and I walked out.

'Going out somewhere?' I jumped. Spencer was sitting on the ground, cigarette in hand.

'Not that it's any of your business but yes, with some friends.' I respond, trying to act natural.

He just nods his head and runs his hand through his hair with a disappointed look on his face. He keeps his head down as I step around him.

I hurry out the door to find Daniel's car waiting, outside. His car is nice, it smells like that expensive cologne wealthy men wear.

We greet each other and he drives to this beautiful restaurant. Lit with candles and chandeliers, I already know this will be expensive. Like the gentleman he is, he pulls the chair out for me. It is warm inside, the smell of freshly cooked meals fills my nostrils as I sit down.

We talk, the conversation is dull; work, my dad, goals. There really is no spark. Nice as he is the flame is non-existent.

When dinner is finished he offers to take me on a walk, I don't want to be rude so I agree.

As soon as we step outside the cold air hits me like a swift punch to the stomach

As soon as we step outside the cold air hits me like a swift punch to the stomach. I hold my arms to my chest in order to gain some warmth.

'Are you cold Y/N?' Daniel asks, seeing me obviously shivering.

I shake my head but there is no covering it. Daniel removes his coat and wraps it around my shoulders. I look up at him and that's when I realize how close he is to me.

He places a hand on my cheek, his hand is cold and small unlike Spencer's warm, large hands. He is getting closer to my face. I realize he is going in for the kiss. I don't really want to kiss him but there is no getting out of it. Just before his lips can touch mine he suddenly falls to the ground.

I look up to see Spencer standing over him after pushing him.

'Get up.' Spencer has his fists ready and Daniel just covers his face.

I push Spencer away, 'What the hell!'

'Is this your fucking friend?' Spencer spits in my face, I smell alcohol on his breath.

'You're wasted, Spencer!' I look back down to Daniel who is dusting himself off and looks at me, confused. 'Daniel I'm so sorry I have to take him home. He is in no position to walk home.'

'He's a grown man he can look after himself lets just get out of here Y/N.' Daniel says.

Spencer almost fully collapses but holds onto my shoulder. 'I'm sorry Daniel.'

'Really you choose this guy? You have so much ahead of you and you choose this guy? I can't pretend to understand you Y/N.'

'Just leave Daniel.' Daniel just shakes his head and walks away from us.

Spencer's hair is so messy, covering his eyes and he is barely standing, still using my shoulder as support. He is still able to look at me and he whispers, 'Why do you do this shit to me?'

For a second I thought he was completely sober but his eyes soon roll back and his head hangs down. He is too heavy for me to carry so I sit down awkwardly with his enormous body propped on me. 'Let's get you home.'

I open my phone to order an Uber. The air seems to be getting colder and I hug Spencer's head to my chest imagining how cold he must be. I prop my back against the rail and run my fingers through his hair.

He mutters something under his breath.

'What was that Spence?'

'You're beautiful Y/N.'
