Fuck it I love you - Lana Del Ray
We sat on the curb of the street, my head in my hand, Spencer's eyes cautiously on the road ahead of us. I was annoyed with Spencer even though I knew it wasn't his fault. We hadn't known what to do so Spencer said our best option was to wait for someone to help. Many cars had seen us and had just continued to drive but I wouldn't really blame them.
After an hour a car finally pulled over. 'Y/N get behind me please.'
I rolled my eyes but did what he said anyway. The window was rolled down to reveal a 60 something man with silver hair, he had crooked teeth, yet a clean composure. There was just something off about him. 'Do yer need a ride?' He grinned, revealing his discomposed smile.
Spencer composed himself and smiled, 'Just to somewhere that can get our truck fixed.'
The man looked side to side before picking something up from his car floor. It was revealed to be a wrench. As he lifted it up both Spencer and I jumped. The man chuckled, 'I know a thing or two, let me help yer.'
Spencer looked around realizing our options were very limited at the moment. He was still hesitant though so I took it upon myself, 'We would appreciate it.' I smile at him and he gets out of his car. The man smells strongly of beer and marijuana as he walks past us. He leans over our truck and gets to work and it soon becomes clear that he has no malicious intentions although Spencer is still tense and does not remove his eyes from him. After half an hour my phone has died and I'm sure we only have a couple more hours of sunlight but the man emerges from the front of the truck. 'We don't have any money.' Spencer says out of guilt but the man just shakes his head claiming that he was just happy to help. He bid us goodbye then left.
We climbed into the car. 'There really are nice people left in this world.' I laugh to myself. Spencer smiles, he looks surprised with the outcome and we start to drive.
After an hour on the road, the sun is starting to set and we pass by a beautiful beach. I admire the colors of the sky and the reflection of the sun on the water. It just looks so peaceful. To my surprise, Spencer pulls over and gets out. He takes off his top as he climbs out. I get out too, confused as to what is happening, 'Spence, what the hell?' He just chuckles, 'I wanna go swimming.' I giggle and follow his lead stripping down to only my bra and undies. We race into the water, goosebumps spreading across my skin. The water is surprisingly not too cold though. It is refreshing. I splash Spencer, laughing although it becomes very unfunny when he is splashing me back. Next thing I know he grabs my hand and pulls me underwater with him, completely submerging me. When we emerge, his hair is soaking wet, covering his eyes, he combs it behind his ear and balances it on his forehead. He pulls me closer to him and brushes one of my wet curls behind my ear. He places his hand behind my head and pulls me in for a deep kiss which we both smile through. It was unexplainable, so blissful.
When we pull out I then dunk his head under and go under myself. With my eyes closed, I feel my way to his face underwater and softly press my lips against his once more. Everything is muted beneath the surface, there is only him and I. As the bubbles rise and we lose our breath there is only him and I.
...
With the little money we had together we were able to afford a little apartment. It was nicer than where we were before, in a better neighborhood and close enough to the beach that you would be able to hear the waves as you fell asleep. When we arrived in the room we both collapsed on the bed, it was comfier, with no springs pressing into your back. I turned to Spencer, 'Maybe you should play your music really loud, and maybe if your lucky some girl will come over and tell you to turn it down.' Spencer smiles, 'No one can play that part as well as you.' Spencer leans in toward my face but I plop myself up on the bed. Patting Spencer's back I say, 'Let's explore.'
Spencer groans into the pillow, clearly tired from our recent endeavor. I shove him, encouraging him to get up and finally he sits up giving in to my idea.
I put on a white plain shirt and skirt and Spencer matches me with a white button-up shirt and jeans. I take his hand in mine and we walk outside. The air is so fresh here, I breathe it in, letting the smells of seawater and rich food fill my nostrils.
When we reach the side of the beach I start to run and Spencer follows me. A few lamp posts light our way but the space between them would be dark. Our heavy panting and our feet hitting the pavement was the only sound I could hear. We finally sat down on the side of the beach, my feet covered in the yellow sand.
I could feel Spencer's gaze on me and sure enough, I looked up to meet his hazelnut eyes staring so longingly at me. 'Y/n?' His eyes drop and I swear he blushes. He scratches his neck awkwardly. 'Yes, Spence?'
'I-I.' He takes a deep breath, 'I think I love you.' He looks back at me, looking as if he is sure of the words that are coming out of his mouth. I smile at him and peck him on the lips before pulling out to look at him, 'I think I love you too.'
At this moment I am absolutely sure of every choice I have made with him.
