Just like Deena had told Sam, they indeed waited for her. After long 15 minutes of struggle for the blonde girl, she walked out limping. Deena walked up to her and helped her to walk just like she had done earlier and surprisingly, Sam did not argue. Probably because Kate was with them.

-Alright, now you just gotta tell us where you live and I'll drive you there., said Deena as she opened her car's backdoor to help Sam in.

-I live on the Fier street., replied Sam as she sat down in the car.

-Oh, so you're not far away from my house and Kate's house is in our path, so first stop is Kate's house., said the brunette after she grabbed the seatbelt for Sam and put it on for her.

The blonde girl could smell Deena's perfume as the girl bent over her to put the seatbelt on. The brunette straightened herself and closed the car's door. She was well aware that Sam could have put her seatbelt on on her own, but something just took over and she simply did it without giving it a second thought. Kate got in the passenger's seat and Deena finally started the car once in her seat.

-So, Sam, tell us about yourself., smiled Kate genuinely curious.

-Oh, uhm, I don't really know what to tell., chuckled the blonde girl nervously.

-I don't know. Favorite actor, celebrity crush, are you single, favorite song, favorite food? Just random facts., replied the younger brunette turning slightly around to look at Sam.

-Okay, well, Winona Ryder for favorite actress. Uh, Brad Pitt for celebrity crush? I am single. Favorite song has to be Creep by Radiohead. And favorite food, hm...cheeseburgers? I don't know. I'm not complicated with food., chuckled and lied Sam.

-You've got taste., smiled Kate turning back around.

They kept the small talk going until they arrived at Kate's house. The girl waved goodbye and Deena drove off to get Sam home safe. That's when the awkward started. They didn't know what to talk about or how to start a conversation. So Deena just asked a question out of the blue.

-Why is it so important to you to join the cheerleading squad?, wondered the brunette.

-Oh, uhm, my mom used to be a cheerleader back in her days so she always kinda, well not pushed but encouraged me to be one myself. I couldn't try out last year because of my ex boyfriend. He's in the football team and didn't want us to be cliché., shrugged Sam as she looked out the window.

-So you simply did what your boyfriend told you? That's fucked up. I mean, he can't just control someone like that., replied Deena.

-First off, he's my ex, and secondly, I am old enough to make my own decisions., said the blonde girl with a bit of a tone.

-Okay, didn't mean to get you all worked up. But I'm glad y'all broke up, because he sounds like a douche., replied the brunette.

-You're the douche., scoffed Sam.

Deena stopped the car.

-Okay, that's it. What the fuck is your problem? I didn't do anything to you and you simply snap at me like I killed your dog or some shit., said Deena.

-I don't have a problem., replied the blonde girl simply.

-You clearly do. What did I do to you ,for you to constantly be mad?, frowned the brunette turning around to look at her.

-N-Nothing! I've just a had a long day. That's all., lied Sam even though she was only semi aware that she was lying.

-Long day. Yeah. Okay., sighed Deena starting the car again and continue on their path.

After a few minutes, Sam spoke up.

-I live there. The grey house with the porch., said the blonde girl.

Deena nodded and pulled in. She got out of the car and opened Sam's door.

-I can walk to the door alone., said Sam.

-I'm sure you can, but you'll hurt yourself even worse and then you won't be able to try out., replied Deena nonchalantly.

Sam sighed and gave up, so Deena simply helped her out of the car, grabbing her backpack for her and walked with her up to her door. That's when the door flew open.

-What's this?, frowned the mother.

-Hi, your daughter hurt herse-, started Deena.

-I was not talking to you., replied the mother.

-I got hurt in the tryouts. She helped me home because the captain of the team told her to., lied Sam once again.

-That's not entirely t-, tried Deena once again.

-Get inside and put some ice on that. And you, get off my porch., said the mother firmly.

-Yeah, you're welcome for getting your daughter home safe., scoffed the brunette.

-Stay away from my daughter. She does not need bad and corrupted influences in her life., replied the mother.

-You don't even know me., said Deena.

-I know enough and I can see clearly. Might as well cut your hair short and give yourself a boy's name., scoffed the mother.

-Oh so you're homophobic?, replied the brunette simply.

-I simply do not stand my daughter to be around dykes such as you., said the woman.

-Dyke? Wow. I now see where the origin of her anger is., scoffed Deena walking away and flipping the mom off.

-You do not talk about my daughter like that! I had to interact with people like you in the past. I had to be their lawyer. Yet I would have loved to see them get some time in jail to realize their sins!, yelled the mother.

-Oh, yeah, cause sending a lesbian to an all women prison would make her fall in love with men immediately. I like your logic. Maybe someday you'll get to send me to jail! Who knows! But until then, I wish your kind clients all the luck in the world., smiled Deena still walking to her car.

-Mom, that's enough., said Sam standing by the door.

-Samantha, go inside! And don't you dare defend her. She will corrupt you and you won't even see it coming. And you, the dyke, you stay away from my daughter, you hear me!, yelled the mother as Deena started the car.

-With pleasure., replied the brunette driving off.

Damn.
