-You're a dick., said Simon to Sam.
-What? No I'm not!, replied Sam.
-She literally just wanted to warn you to help you and keep you safe., argued Kate.
-She could have been nicer about it., shrugged the blonde girl.
-Yeah, nicer to the girl whose mom called her a dyke and who has been rude to her since they first met for no obvious or clear reason., replied the smaller girl angrily.
-I am not my mom! You think I liked it when my mom called her that? I did not! But it's my mom and I can't stop her., argued Sam.
-Then why do you hate her?, frowned Simon.
-I don't hate her. I just don't like her., replied the blonde girl.
-But why?, continued Kate.
-Just leave me alone., said Sam walking away.
-You don't even have a reason, do you?, scoffed Simon.
-I said leave me alone., repeated the blonde girl trying to get out of the conversation.
-Do we have a problem here?, asked a boy walking up to them.
-No., said Sam coldly to the boy, walking away and not giving the boy any attention.
Greenish eyes, dark skinned. Definitely her ex boyfriend. Kate looked at Simon, seeing that he too had noticed it. The boy was still glaring at them.
-I'm sorry, would you like a picture with us?, asked Simon.
-Don't provoke me, weirdo., replied the ex boyfriend.
-Me? I would never dare to., replied Simon as Kate grabbed his hand and walked away from the ex boyfriend.
The girls didn't bump into each other for the rest of the day, which Deena was very grateful for. Yet there was a party planned at Heather's. They weren't close but Deena, Simon and Kate did get invited because of Kate. Deena knew that Sam would probably not go. She didn't seem very popular except for the fact that she dated the quarterback of their school's team. She really hoped that the blonde girl wouldn't go. She needed some space or else she would explode. Having to deal with her at school was already more than enough for the brunette. She was getting ready, she had to pick up Kate and Simon on her way to Heather's. Simon would probably already be at Kate's place. Deena has been friends with them for many years and as a child, she always thought that Simon and Kate would end up dating someday, but now it was clearer than ever that it would never happen. They're simply two dorks. Two friends. Two platonic idiots. Once ready, not that she really cared about her looks, yet somehow managed to always look like a snack, she grabbed the keys to the car, left some cash for Josh to order pizza and then left, leaving a note for her dad that she would be studying at Kate's. She started the car and started the car, rolling the windows down. To drive to Kate's house, she would have to pass Sam's house. She didn't know who lived there before, but now she did and she wished that she wouldn't have to see the blonde girl. Yet, as she drove past, hearing the screams inside the house. She then saw Sam running out of the house, seemingly upset. She was dressed up which made Deena realize that she would be going to the party. She could see that the blonde girl was crying as she started walking down the sidewalk. The brunette clenched her jaw, knowing that she would regret it but still doing it. She slowed down.
-Hey blondie!, said Deena pretty loudly to get her attention.
Sam turned to her and sighed.
-Now is really not the time to annoy me., replied the blonde girl.
-Well, how about you get in my car and let me drive you to Heather's house? Don't worry, we don't have to talk. It's just getting late and you're out here alone, that's all., explained the brunette.
-Okay. Fine., nodded Sam walking up to the car and getting in the passenger's seat.
Deena drove off again, and as she said, she did not say a word.
-Thank you., whispered the blonde girl.
-Anytime., replied Deena keeping her eyes on the road.
The ride to Kate's house was pretty quiet. But thankfully, it wasn't far. She finally stopped at Kate's house.
-This is not Heather's house., frowned Sam.
-I know, I'm just picking Simon and Kate up., replied Deena, waiting for her friends to get out of the house.
-Well shit., sighed the blonde girl.
-What?, wondered the brunette looking at Sam.
-Pretty sure they hate me., shrugged Sam.
Deena frowned and was about to ask about it but Kate and Simon appeared next to her car.
-Hey ladykiller., smiled Kate getting in and then frowning once she saw Sam.
-Sam?, frowned Simon getting in as well.
-Yeah., nodded the blonde girl, not turning around.
-What is she doing here?, asked Kate directed to Deena.
-The same thing as you. She needed a ride., explained the brunette.
-Oh so now she's nice to you because she needs something from you., scoffed Kate.
-Alright, who wants to listen to some radio?, replied Deena basically ignoring Kate's comment.
-Deena!, argued the smaller brunette but the older girl had already turned the radio on.
Kate sat back and crossed her arms. She did not like the blonde girl and how she treated Deena. It was unfair and cruel. She would definitely talk to Deena later. Simon just silently judged Sam from the backseat, not saying a word. After a long and quiet ride, even if the radio was blasting, they arrived at Heather's house. Deena parked the car and got out. There were already teenagers talking and drinking. Definitely shouldn't be drinking at their age, yet there was no adult to stop them. Deena locked the car and put the keys in her pocket. Sam was about to walk away but Deena grabbed her wrist and stopped her.
-I just want to know if you need a ride back?, wondered the brunette.
-Uh, yeah. That'd be great., nodded the blonde girl blushing slightly, looking down at Deena's hand on her skin.
-Alright. I'll look for you once we leave., replied Deena.
They walked in the house.
