If I'm being honest this is a self projection, because I hate the fact that I can't socialize at any sort of social gathering, which often leaves me sitting in the corner alone looking weird.
Hypno P.O.V.
Lonely and alone were two very different things. Alone was most definitely the last thing I was in that moment, surrounded by what seemed to be hundreds of bodies squeezing in on every side of me.
In reality there was maybe twenty people in the area. I really shouldn't have agreed to come to this. I always end up just sitting in a corner alone like I'm doing right now, I reflected.
The party was had hardly gone on for half an hour, so it would be considered impolite to leave. So I just had to bear sitting alone, on a bench, in the corner, drinking from the fruit punch that hadn't yet been spiked.
I was lonely. No one would go out of their way to approach the loner at a party when they were all talking to their friends, having fun, and playing the party games that had been set out for everyone.
A girl wearing a green wool shirt, with branch-like antlers on her head was playing darts with a brunette in a black sweater lined with grey. Both were laughing and having fun.
A particularly rambunctious group consisting of a great many people seemed to be playing truth or dare, taking up a large area of the hard the party was located in.
There was another group, a quieter one, consisting of a brunette wearing a pink sweater and a blonde with goggles perched on her head, that seemed to be playing a game of cornhole.
Other than that, there were a few miscellaneous groups of people talking and laughing. One such group was a creeper/robot hybrid and a dog hybrid.
There were also a couple of people who seemed to be brothers messing with each other. One was sneaking up on the other with a bottle of punch in hand, getting ready to cause the other with it.
Just then someone called out that food was here, and everyone raced off to the table to get it. I hung back, not wanting to be stuck in the jostling line with everyone else.
I tried to ignore the way the volume raised considerably as people shoved their way through the crowd to be one of the first to get food. It got my heart beating faster and my stress levels climbing higher, but I had to ignore that fact it I were to survive tonight.
It took what felt like ages for the crowd to filter down to only a couple of people getting their food. People were scattered about seated at the tables placed in seemingly random spots around the yard.
When everyone had cleared out of the food, including a few quick eaters who were already getting seconds, I strolled over to the table to get some.
Just then a shorter boy with a red sweater and dirty blonde hair walked up to the table, and I jumped back a little before gesturing for him to go first, to make it seem I wasn't startled out of my site when he came up to me.
Y'know, thinking on it now, it's probably more my fault that I'm alone at this party, since I'm too scared to interact with anybody. Instead, I hovered a few feet back, patiently waiting for the boy to finish getting his food.
When he was done, I stepped forward one more to collect my dinner and this time it went smoothly and with no interruption. I didn't get much, just a single slice of cheese pizza, but it would be enough for me tonight.
Any more and I felt the anxiety churning the contents of my stomach would throw it right back up. Collecting my plate, I went back to my secluded spot on the bench, silently hoping for and yet yearning against someone approaching me.
