The next day, Sakura went to protect Tazuna while we worked on the bridge as Kakashi, Naruto, Sasuke, Yuuki, and I stayed here at the house. Kakashi was still in recovery while Naruto and Sasuke were still training, still climbing trees.
"They've been at this all morning. Aren't they going to take a break?" Yuuki questioned as he stood next to me while the two of us watched.
"They were at each other's throats last night about who's stronger than who. I don't think there's any point in telling them to stop and work as a team. But it's not my problem at the moment." I shrugged my shoulders. As said before, our teamwork is a fluke.
Since Kakashi was still inside, I thought I might as well watch these two train and make sure they don't rip each other's throats out for real. They were competing to get to the top of the tree they're trying to climb.
I still have my concerns about this Fire Flower that those demon brothers and Zabuza was talking about. I don't know what it is suppose to mean exactly, but I know deep down I've heard of it before.
And that memory... Of my father... Why did I dream about that? I haven't had a dream in a long time... Not since my dad killed himself...
"Mokou," I hear Yuuki call out to me, having me open my eyes. I was sitting near a tree with my knees up to my chest. "Sakura and Tazuna are back. We should get head inside."
"Yeah." I stand up and stretch my arms out above me. "Naruto and Sasuke will have to come inside sometime. They need to eat."
During dinner, Tazuna's grandson was speaking about a bad man that goes by the name of Gato. No wonder the village is poor. They barely have anything. Sakura was explaining how poor the village was when she was out protecting Tazuna.
After dinner we all went to bed. All except for me. Needless to say I don't sleep at night because I'm an insomniac. Ever since the death of my father, I haven't been able to get a peaceful night rest. Not to mention the rogues that keep trespassing in the forest to take refuge.
"Are you sure you don't want to get any shut-eye? Staying up all night isn't good for you, you know?" Yuuki tells me as he sits up from the futon, since we are sleeping in a guest bedroom.
"What about you? Shouldn't you be sleeping too?" I ask back as I was looking out the window, gazing up at the stars.
"I don't sleep that much. Usually I'm always up at this hour, keeping those ninja out of the forest."
"You too?" I turn to look at him.
"Yeah. But you should rest."
"I'll be fine. I'm always up anyway. I don't sleep." I turn my head back to the window. "Go back to sleep, Yuuki. Don't worry about me." Is all I say for the rest of the night. But instead, Yuuki walks over to me and sits next to me, gazing up at the stars too.
"I'll stay up with you. I won't be sleeping any time soon. So you don't have to worry either." He looks at me with a light smile.
"You're a strange cat." I say bluntly.
"And you're a strange girl." He said back. But Yuuki didn't stay up for the entire night. He end up falling asleep when the sun came up.
While he slept in, I went outside to check on Naruto since he didn't come in for dinner. He'll skip breakfast and catch a cold outside if he doesn't come back.
I leave the house and go to where I saw Naruto last. I found him in the middle of the forest with birds around him. 'He passed out from training.' I sigh with my thoughts while walking over to him.
I kneel near his body and place my hand on his shoulder. But I didn't shake him awake or anything.
There was something about Naruto that I wanted to understand. I don't know why, but I felt the need to be around him... Was it because he was the first person I encountered other than a rogue ninja?
No... It's something else. Also, something about him is off. I can almost feel it. It's like he's hiding something based off an emotion.
My senses kicked in when I felt a presence behind me, causing me to whip around and about to set the person on fire. But it was a boy with long hair and wearing clothes that a woman would wear.
He blinks when I nearly attack him and I stopped myself before I could do any damage to him. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. I saw the two of you out here and I saw him asleep. Honestly, I didn't think anybody would be out here this early in the morning." He genuinely smiled at me.
"He's my teammate. I was about to wake him up. Sorry for nearly killing you." I said bluntly. He's out here early because he's picking out herbs. I looked in his basket. Those herbs are to help heal wounds... Hmm. "Naruto. Wake up. You're going to catch a cold." I finally shook him awake.
"Uhhh what?" Naruto began to wake up finally and rubbed his eyes. "Oh, hey Mokou!" He smiles at me. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to get you. You didn't come back to the house and you're about to miss breakfast. Are you coming or not?"
"Yeah sure. Hey, who is she?" He referred to the boy in front of us.
"He came out here to check up on us. He saw you asleep. Anyway, I'm going back to the house. Be sure you eat something, okay?" With that said, I left Naruto with the strange boy, knowing he will be alright.
Tazuna tells us that the bridge is almost done. Which means we can go back to the village tomorrow. Although, we still have Zabuza to deal with. I don't want to face him again because I might end up passing out like I did last time.
But will our training be enough to defeat him this time? We managed to get away from him because of that fake tracking ninja. Speaking of which... That boy's voice sounded a lot like the fake tracking ninja, didn't it?
