Alice had no idea where she was, she had seen familiar faces as she ran but each gave her dirty looks,  at times whispered to those beside them. She hadn't stopped running since her feet left the porch. Her deep brown hair blew behind her in the wind. The ends of her dress were dusted with dirt from the path. Her shoes were caked in the dirt along with her socks. Her knees were slightly red and dusted with dirt. To be frank she was a mess and Emma would kill her for going out like this. For the public to see her in a distressed and stained state.

But Alice herself didn't care what they saw all she cared about was getting away. Getting away from a house that reminds her so much of her parents. The house that made the fondest of memories fade into the darkest of nightmares. The house which held the family she had managed to ruin with just her existence. So Alice ran, as far as she could go. To the point in which she was completely lost. Lost in her mind, lost in her direction. Alice wasn't paying attention to where she was going. Her confused raged thoughts pooled in her mind corrupting her common sense.

Her roaring emotions rained heavily as the sun began to fade. And yet it still beat down on her as she too did in her mind. She was confused as to why and how she was such a burden. Yet furious at herself for making her one. The wind that whipped through her hair had begun to settle at her back. The bow that had held it together was long gone. Most likely hanging from a roof steeple or a twisted tree limb.

Her face slammed into what she presumed to be a tree. Backing up she rubbed her forehead looking at the ground. She cursed the tree, which wasn't a tree at all, under her breath.  A face leaned down in front of hers. To her luck, it was Gilbert, not much luck at all. He pushed the hair from her eyes a look of confusion on his face, "Alice?" She stepped back quickly looking away from him, "I'm sorry I wasn't paying any mind to where I was headed."

He straightened his awkward stance his natural smirk faded. Although he held an unfazed front with even a simple glance you could see how nervous Alice makes him. His hands slightly shook, and he tried to look away from her eyes, a smile grew on his face when he saw her. He walked back into her line of sight. Trying to catch a glimpse of her melancholy face. She looked back up fighting back tears. She hated crying no matter if she had done it so often. It was a sign of weakness in her eyes. She didn't want to be weak she wanted to hold strong for her family.  For the sake of her parent's memories.

A slight infectious grin grew on Gilbert's face. It was something about her pale green eyes that made him light up with a smile. Alice couldn't help but grow a smile herself just by his presence.

A few hours passed of the two talking, and they lay beside each other on the grass only inches away from a deadly fall straight down.  They had walked for some time before making their way towards the cliffed beach. The beach was surrounded by a long cliff that was covered in grass and flowers. Alice was just on the edge her head hanging over as she watched the tide roll in. Gilbert was beside her his head resting in his hands tucked at the edge. He periodically glanced over at her a slight look of worry in his eyes.

She tapped her fingers for every shell she watched get dragged in and pulled away. Her fingers rolled as though she was fingering a piano. An instrument she had no idea how to play. And yet the way she found her commonly tapping her fingers made it seem the opposite. She wasn't musically challenged just didn't find a large interest in the piano itself. Liam, the middle of her triplet brothers, was amazing. He practiced for ages time into the night until the next morning. It made her sleep better as it did most of her siblings. It wasn't an annoyance as much as Alice's tries at the Viola.

But that's beside the point  Gilbert and Alice had begun to talk. Sudley at first about the weather of all things, then later about what was bothering Alice. Gilbert rolled over onto his back staring up at the sky, "He doesn't think you're the reason everything went wrong Alice."

She gripped onto the edge, "For some reason, I don't believe you." He scoffed flicking her shoulder, "I would have you know that I am a quite believable person." Her gaze darted to the side of his face, "Whatever you say Blythe." He moved his hands behind his head resting against them, "Yes it is whatever I say." Two began bantering back and forth over how reliable Gilbert was. Alice felt for the first time in a while like she belonged. A sense of freedom consumed her. She felt at peace not thinking of her parents or what anyone thought of her.
