It had been a week since John's return home, however the Prince still had not been seen in public yet. He had given a statement to the head of the royal press for The Aquitaine Times, and had made sure to mention the name of the operator that saved his life. Henry Bergström, who was receiving a knighthood in a months time.
It was a strange week, one that he had slept for most of the beginning of. With his arm completely bandaged up and the doctor checking up on him. Though shockingly he and Paul had had some great nights in the last week, at least in John's view. He found it a fun change, being able to lie there as Paul did all the work-
His mother had come to visit him twice, to the actual Palace, which had made a great story in the eyes of the press. And his sister, Victoria had visited, too. Though bad times had also occurred, like on the Wednesday, when John had been so terribly sore and sick that he could not attend young Julia's birthday party. It was the reason Victoria had visited the palace in the first place, and one of the two times John's mother had visited was for that reason too.
He didn't know if he would consider not being seen by Mimi as a bad thing, he just was not sure what was going on with that woman. Neither was anyone else in the palace, not even Martin. In the back of John's mind, he was being told that she missed Brian, however in the rational side of his head he understood that was not the case. Mimi was borderline crazy before the incident anyway.
It was that night, a week later, when John had been in his office, as he was bored of his or Paul's bedroom, that he had been brought to the attention of Mimi once more. There he was, sitting and reading wuthering heights, a recommendation by Paul, under his lamp, when a knock was heard on his door.
"Come in!" John called, eyes not leaving his book.
He assumed it was George, entering to tell him Paul needed his help in the kitchen. Since Astrid left, the two hadn't found the time to find a new chef. Before John's injury, he had taken over as chef, being surprisingly good. However now the job of cooking had fallen down to Paul, which was not a good thing.
Yes, in the past there had been emphasis on the Omega of the household performing household duties such as cooking, however Paul had always been hopeless. It was not his fault, when he had presented as an Omega, instead of the old King giving Paul such lessons, he instead locked him away. Paul didn't have any experience in any 'household' duties. Not that he would need it anyway, as a royal servants would wait on him hand and foot.
When they were actually at work.
"Sir." Martin spoke, bowing to him. At the sound of the man's voice, John looked up peculiarly
"Martin..." The Alpha pulled his glasses down to rest upon his nose. "How may I help you this evening?"
"Well, around this time of the year, e-every year, sir, the Queen is invited to a theatre... Performance. It is where a range of talented singers and such perform on stage for a large audience of paying individuals, recently including Omega's, and they perform for her..." Martin specified, not making eye contact with John at all and keeping his gaze facing the Prince's desk. He then cleared his throat, covering his mouth with his fist as he did so. "However, since the Queen is sick, she has said she is unable to attend-"
"Question, Martin..." John butted in.
"Yes, your highness."
"Is she unable to attend, or just not caring of her royal duties?" His tone was rather sassy.
Well, as sassy as John could be with Martin. The man could scold him like a father sometimes if he went too far.
"Well... I- I am not-"
