It was two days after the death of Mimi that the rest of the Aquitainian royal family made their return home. It had been an awfully long two days, talking about what had happened with the FBI, discussing what comes next... But for John, there was mostly a lot of crying.
It was hard to believe that what had happened actually had happened. He had said to himself many times that Mimi, well Mimi was Mimi, but she was not a murderer. In the end, however...
John knew why Mimi did what she did, and she had apologised for it. There was no more that could have been done on the matter, there was no point being angry at her, it wouldn't solve anything, and it would certainly not bring Jim back.
But would... people want Jim back?
A month or so before Mimi had sent Daniel to kill the King, another man had broken into the castle to try and kill him too. It was an Omega Rotherhamian who had commuted the crime, and he had been arrested. But he had not done what he did because he had been ordered to, he genuinely hated Jim.
And then there was the question, would Paul and Mike want Jim back?
Jim was awful to his Omega son, that was no secret. Paul had been put through so much torture all because of something he could not change, just to make Jim look better. So it was clear why Paul would probably not want Jim back. And Mike had always despised their father for what he did to Paul, and he had ended up despising his father.
John knew that the two did not immensely feel his loss, just the way that he went was so horrific... It was wrong for a life to be taken.
But Jim took Paul's life from him. Trapping him in that room
But Jim's life was actually taken.
Mimi initially wanted Jim and Mike dead so that Paul would be moved away from Aquitaine, but once her mind had fought enough with itself and she had finally realised that Paul was not a horrible person and that killing his entire family to move him away was... Evil, she came to the decision that it was awful and she had to try her best to stop it all. She had broken free from her selfishness, and had managed to remove Mike from the picture so his innocent soul was not taken.
But she just... She just could not find an innocent part of Jim to make her wish to remove him from the situation. He was... He was a monster.
But did the murder make Mimi a monster too? Morally, yes... But deep down, for Paul especially, it did not. Not in Paul's eyes, as he had told John.
Plus, Mimi had spent every day since the assassination with guilt eating away at her. She hated the fact that she had murdered a man, that she had gone against her beliefs. She even had a heart attack over it.
She knew it was wrong, and from the bottom of her heart on her death bed, she had apologised. It was such a genuine apology. She had suffered enough from grief, he did not wish for her to suffer in the afterlife thinking her family hated her. No, she should be partying with Uncle George, not worrying about the rest of her family.
So no, John didn't hate her.

John was not resting. For the first two nights he had not slept, and for his first night back in Aquitaine, he had still barely slept.
The people of Aquitaine were too, in mourning. Even if Mimi didn't believe so, no Aquitainians hated her. A few, mainly Omega's, had felt a bit betrayed in the past, but they could see the loss that she had felt from the death of George. It was hard to loose someone, especially someone who was nice like they knew George was.
They had a brief idea of what she had done, but most had forgiven her. They knew Jim well, he was known as the ruthless king to every other kingdom, and he was hated especially in Aquitaine for what he had done to Paul. They felt very similar emotions to John, in that sense.
