(A/N - Sorry for no posts. I don't tend to post on the weekends, I'm usually busy lol. Anyway, as it's a Sunday evening now, why not give you all a treat 😉)

Paul was scared.

He had locked himself in his room, lying flat against the silk sheets and staring up at the chandelier above him. To say he was scared was actually an understatement. All he could feel was dread at the idea of what might happen when he eventually left his room.

He feared that as soon as he opened the door things would continue how they should have been from the very start. He had no doubt that John would have been told by Mimi that he would also be in great trouble if he decided to disobey her orders for any longer. He wouldn't be surprised if even George's demeanour would change.

Paul had only been here in the Palace for three days and he had already caused so much havoc and distress to everyone here. He always seemed to cause upset and trouble, no matter where he was.

He could hear what was going on in the drawing room, even if only slightly. It had been silent for a good half an hour or so, but now John had re-entered the room with what sounded like a rather agitated voice.

"Is he still in there?" John asked Stuart.

"Yes, sir. He is."

"Has he left at all?" The Alpha questioned.

"No, your highness... He has been in there since you left."

John sighed, very loud.

Fear grew even stronger in Paul's chest and all he could do was squeeze his eyes shut.

"Macca... Please come out. I must talk to you."

Paul felt tears gathering in the corner of his eyes. It was really happening, John was going to scold him too. He knew the last three days had to have been too good to be true.

"Paul..." John repeated.

With a sniff, Paul sat himself up. He knew he had to face the change eventually, it wasn't like he could leave. So with slow footsteps, Paul managed to drag himself over to the drawing room doors, and hesitantly opened them. John was now alone, Stuart not in sight. He tried desperately not to meet his alpha's gaze.

With a shaky breath, Paul bowed his head to the floor. He swallowed thickly as he sank down onto his knees. He didn't dare look up, knowing it would remind him of what everything had been like before.

"Oh, my darling..." A voice whispered. "Please, please don't do that..."

Paul still couldn't find it in him to move.

"Come head." John replied back, his voice barely above a whisper. "Nothing has changed, Paul. I promise." When Paul found it in him to glance up, John held an hand out for him. He gently took it, meeting his soft gaze. "You don't have to kneel to me, Macca. Never again."

Paul just stood before him, his throat dry and eyes wet.

"I won't let her exclude you, Macca..." John spoke, his voice full with determination. "Over my dead body. You're a part of this family now, an equal part of it, Omega or not..."

Something about the look in John's eyes made Paul instantly believe him. He looked so serious, so genuine.

Paul couldn't understand why John cared so much, but the fact that he did meant the world to him.

A door opened, both of their gazes flicking towards it.

"Is Paul-" George began, pausing upon seeing the omega stood beside John, his hand still intertwined with John's. "Oh. Oh, good." He smiled, thankfully.
