It was 10am when the telephone rang, immediately wakening John from his sleep. It took him a few seconds to register the absurd noise, at first trying to block it out. He had clutched his Omega tighter instead. However when he failed in trying to block it out, and the noise seemed to get louder, he sighed, slowly opening up his eyes.
Paul was still asleep, which John wasn't surprised about. Even if the Omega wasn't able to sleep through an earthquake, John would expect him to be asleep anyway. Sitting up in bed in order to finally take the call, he realised that George was no longer lay on the sofa, either, his shoes gone.
John eventually took the phone from the holder, placing it to his ear, and with a tired yawn...
"Hello?"
"Christ, John... Thought you weren't going to answer..." Ringo informed him, before moving on quite quickly. "Anyway, I read the newspaper this morning... Mentions of police cars entering the palace gates in the early hours? Whatever has been going on, John?"
John grumbled, rather quietly, not wanting to even risk waking Paul up.
"Damn press... Do they wish to spy on us twenty-four seven?"
"John..." Ringo warned, in a rather worried tone. "Answer my question... Whatever happened last night?"
John thought back to last night, rubbing his forehead slowly as to help him remember. He thought deeply, before an image came into his head... It was Paul, lay in a hospital bed, seeming rather wiped out. He was dreadfully pale, and there were a group of doctors walking in and out of the room.
Then he remembered. Someone had been lacing Paul's food with those awful heat suppressants...
But not just someone... Brian Epstein...
"It was Paul..." John sighed.
"My goodness! Is he alright?" The other Alpha exclaimed.
"Yes... He is now. He has just had a very difficult few hours..."
"Consisting of what?"
"First the hospital... He thought he may have been expecting a baby... And then his poor little heart was completely shattered when we found out that he was indeed not pregnant, and that someone had been lacing his food with extra heat suppressants!"
"My God!" Ringo exclaimed. "Christ... Is he alright now? What happened at hospital? You must be terribly worried!"
"He seems alright at the moment, he's soundly asleep... At the hospital, they had to pump his stomach, and yes... I am incredibly worried." The Prince spoke, breathing out rather heavily. He looked over to the boy, who still looked awfully pale. "Oh Rich... He looks terribly ill..." John spoke, his heart breaking.
"I am not surprised after what he had been through..." The Alpha responded, and John hummed along in agreement. "Do you have any leads on who committed this dreadful crime?"
John bit his lip, wondering if he should say anything of what he suspected.
Nobody was positive. In fact, it was only John and Daniel that knew of anything at all. But the facts were there, and it was just so right for it all to lead back to Brian. The man had been silent around John for weeks now, since the wedding. John never saw him at all on that day, and he hadn't shown up to any of Mimi's royal balls at all.
He figured there was no harm in telling Ringo. The other Alpha knew of Brian's history anyway, and he was John's best friend. Ringo would not tell a soul if John asked him not to.
