   (Y/N's POV)

Newt told me that every month when they got a new Greenie, they would have a bonfire. It was a celebration of the new person that came up.

Me and the group were laughing and smiled I noticed Newt and Tommy staring at me from the other side of the fire. I waved at them. They seemed to regain sense and looked away. I laughed.

...

Most of that night was filled with laughter, stares at me, and some drinks. Gally made it himself and it would mess you up. 2 drinks of that and you probably couldn't walk. I only drank 1. Or 1 and a half. I was just a bit drunk.

Newt and Thomas had joined us now and we were having a great time. They talked of funny things that happened in the Glade, such as Thomas once kissing Teresa when she was drunk. We all said 'ew' to that. Also the time when the boys pranked Teresa by putting bugs in her hammock. We all laughed at the thought (well, they laughed at the memory) of Teresa letting out a high pitched scream at bugs in her hammock and calling for the boys who refused to come.

We had started sitting down after a while and we were still talking. Thomas was by me and started to stare at me as well, which I blushed at. Thomas seemed like a pretty good guy, so I didn't mind.

(Newt's POV *before Y/N caught them staring*)

"Y/N seems really great," I told Tommy.

"Yeah, she sure does."

Thomas looked at her with a weird glint in his eyes. I did think I could like Y/N right now, but if Tommy liked her and she liked him back I would obviously back off. Thomas did seem like he was going to start dating her soon, so I pushed down what I could have possibly felt for her.

...

(Y/N's POV)

When we were done, Newt was walking me to the Homestead since we slept next to each other (close by, not in the same hammock).

"Goodnight, Newt."

"Night, love."

....

(Y/N's POV)

When I woke up, I noticed some boys were already missing out of their hammocks. I immediately went to get some other clothes and went to a place to change. When I went back to the Homestead, Newt had woken up by then.

"Hey, Good morning," he said.

"Good morning."

"Ready for breakfast and then your trials?"

"Not really. But let's go!"

I motioned for him to follow me and he stood up and laughed. We walked to the kitchen to get food and then we went to the table. Most of our friends were already there.

We talked about a lot of things. Mostly random things. I couldn't help but notice Thomas staring at me during the breakfast, which made me blush a bit. Newt seemed a little irritated by this, but I didn't know why. I just continued eating and talking after I stopped thinking so much about it.

....

Newt led me to the Bloodhouse and I knew. I knew the inevitable was gonna happen and it happened. I was falling for Newt. I did like him. I'm gonna try and suppress my feelings since he seems like the best friend I have in the Glade. He was also probably in love with Teresa.

...

(Newt's POV)

I definitely knew I had feelings for Y/N. Already I felt like she was the most important person in the Glade, and she was just so perfect. However, if Tommy and her would be happy together I would stop. Or try.

...

(Y/N's POV)

When I was done for lunch, with barely the use of my fingers since they were bleeding profusely, Newt was waiting for me. I smiled at him. He smiled back and looked at my fingers.

"Yep. I'm officially a mummy," I joked.

He laughed and moved his head to signal me to walk with him. I saw Teresa on the way and remembered exactly why I couldn't tell him that I liked him.

...

When it was after dinner, Thomas offered to walk me to the Homestead. I looked to Newt to see if he was okay with it and he nodded and fake smiled. I was a bit saddened by his reaction to me and Thomas but he led me to walk with him. We talked and laughed and I generally thought I could like Thomas. Of course I could since he was not the one that loved Teresa and he was really sweet. He seemed like a nice person. Maybe I could get over Newt after all.
