Chapter 9

Isang umaga, bigla nalang sumigaw si Denden kaya naman nagising si Aly. Agad namang tumayo si Aly at hinanap kung saan galing ang sigaw.

Den: Baaaabe!! Alyyy!!

Aly: (habang naglalakad) Babe? Where are you?

Den: Come here, Pia's room! Quick!

Tumakbo naman si Aly dahil mukhang emergency ito.

Agad naman siyang sinalubong ng iyak ni Pia at alalang-alala naman si Den.

Aly: Babe, what happend here? Anong problema?

Den: Ang taas ng lagnat ni Pia eh, tapos kanina pa masakit yung tiyan niya. We should bring here to the hospital na siguro!

Aly: Uhm sige, sige, ahh I'll just get the car. Uhm Ya, pakarga nalang si Pia ah. Den, get her some clothes and snacks siguro.

Yaya & Den: Okay.

Aly: (kissed Pia on the forehead) Everything will be okay. I love you, sweetiepie.

Agad naman kinuha ni Aly ang susi sa kotse nila at pumunta na sa garahe.

Maya-maya pumunta na si Den at si Yaya Arlene sa kotse.

Yaya: Ma'am, sasama ba ako?

Aly: Ahhmm... sige Yaya, sumama ka nalang para matulungan mo kami.

Pia: (crying) babba! Mommy! My tummy really hurts... it so ouchie!

Den: Yes baby, wait lang... we'll come see the doctor so they can give you meds okay?

Pia: awwieee mommy! Sakit talaga!

After a few minutes they finally reached the hospital so they brought her to the ER.

Pawis na pawis si Aly at si Den, halatang-halata na kabado.

Doc: So what happend to her?

Den: Doc, we actually don't know. Yung yaya niya kasi just suddenly knocked on our door na umiiyak daw siya complaining that her tummy hurts. She's been complaining rin on the way here. I checked her temp. and she was 39s.

Doc: Okay, siguro kailangan natin siyang iswero kasi nanghihina siya. She also didn't want to eat her crackers, that can be bad for her. She should eat.

Aly: Doc, will she be okay?

Doc: Yes, nothing to worry about. It's just that we just need to make sure she doesn't loose her electrolytes. We're going to find her a room as soon as possible.

AlyDen: Okay doc. Thank you.

Doc: No problem. Excuse me lang ah, I need to do my rounds but I'll attend to you and your daughter after. Nurse Carla will do the work.

Nurse: Ma'am, we found her a room na po. We're going to assist you nalang. Okay lang po ba kung sa wheel chair siya?

Den: baby, is it okay?

Pia: (hugging Den on her thighs) uhmm... okay mommy.

Den: Sige nurse, wheel chair nalang siya.

They put her on the wheel chair and then they walked to the room.

Nilagyan na ng swero si Pia at umiiyak parin ito. Aly and Den really hate to see her cry.

Nurse: Ma'am, aalis po muna ako. I'll be back at 6 to check on her again. Earlier po pupunta si Doc dito, we need to know if it's appendicitis and if it requires surgery.

Aly: Okay. Thank you, Nurse.

Nanlaki naman ang mga mata ni Pia nang marinig niya ang salitang 'surgery' at hinawakan ng mahigpit ang kamay ni Den na nasa tabi lang niya.

Pia: Mommy... I don't want surgery! (crying)

Den: But baby, if that's gonna heal you, you need to do it. Mas lalong sasakit yan if 'di ka mag surgery.

Aly: It's going to be okay baby. We promise that. (she kissed Pia's forehead and held her hand) Get well soon my baby pie.

Pia smiled sweetly while Aly and Den just gave her a weak smile. They thought na hindi mano-notice ni Pia na malungkot sila pero they were wrong.

Pia: babba, mommy, kung hindi kayo mag smile how can I smile?? Di ba po sabi nyo everything will be okay? Kaya dapat mag smile na po kayo.

Den: Babe she's right. I don't think our worrying will help, huwag muna tayong nega ok? (she held Aly)

Aly: Okay, if that's whats going to make you happy that's what we're doing!

A few minutes later, the doctor came in.

Doc: Good morning, ma'am.

Aly: Doc, good morning rin. Ahh, ako nga po pala si Aly, siya po si Den.

Doc: Okay uhm Aly, Den. So hindi ko na papatagalin pa. I'll explain everything at once will that be ok?

Tumango naman silang dalawa.

Doc: this may be really shocking, but Pia has severe appendicitis. It's going to require a 2-hour surgery kasi medyo matagal na pala ito you just don't know. this one is one of the worst kinds, hindi agad lumalabas yung symptoms. Ano, we need to decide if mag surgery or hindi. But i suggest na wag niyo na hintayin na lumala ang sakit niya, not to scare you though but it's now or never.

Nagbuntong hininga naman sila. Tignan nila si Pia at sadyang tumango naman ang bata.

Aly: Ok, doc, we're a go for this.

Doc: That's good, we'll have the surgery in a few hours. We will just prepare the operating room and do some tests. Nurse, patulong naman kay Pia. Is it ok if you too stay? Hindi kasi pwede ang hindi pasyente don sa room eh.

Den: It's ok doc. Everything will be alright, sweet pea. (she kissed pia)

Aly: (holds pia's hand) Baby, trust us on this ok? You'll be ok. I love you and be strong for babba and mommy.

Den: You're a fighter sweetie, always remember that.

Yaya: Kaya mo yan baby, diba matapang ka?

Pia: Yes babba, mommy, and yaya. I will be strong for you guys.

Pia kissed her babba and mommy and then they left the room. The nurse was pushing her wheelchair. As she left the room, hindi napigilan ni Aly na umiyak.

Den: (hugged Aly) babe, everything will be okay. We can't do anything else right now but to be strong for our Pia. We can't show her that we're like this, mas lalong kakabahan yun.

Aly: Babe paano kung may masamang mangyari, paano kung hindi maging maganda yung output, paano kung -

Aly was cut by Den and she put her index finger on Aly's mouth as if saying she needs to stop talking.

Den: Babe, wag mo kasing unahan ng negative vibes. Pia is a fighter, marami na kayong pinagdaanan. I'm sure loosing her mom was more painful than this, she survived loosing Melissa and what more naman ito. Kayang kaya ni pia yun. Maniwala ka sakin, I'm your sidekick remember.

Aly: (kissed Den on the forehead) thank you so much for boosting me up, babe. Thank you for being there. You make me happy. I love you so much baby! (she kissed den -smack)

Den: I love you too... (she wiped the tears rolling down Aly's eyes) now, huwag ka nang umiyak ha? You know I don't like seeing you like that..

Aly: Yes boss, hindi na ko iiyak. Tama ka, I can't show Pia that I'm coward about this.
