Julia's night was rather rudely interrupted by a group of gunmen trying to rob the bar. "Everybody on the ground, now! Right now!" Their leader shouted and Julia scoffed, and she looked at her single beer, that she hadn't even taken a sip out of yet.
"Stay here, Hartley." She muttered and stood up quickly, causing their lead perp to aim his gun at her. "It's empty, your gun. You left the ammo at home, but you don't want to admit it to the rest of your crew. So you still came out to do the job." Julia said and the perp looked ashen-gray in the face now, as his skeleton crew looks at him and Hartley raised his eyebrows at the standoff.
One of the guys lunged for Julia and his arm was swinging at her head. She had already moved, before it happens and the punch slammed into the head of his friend. "Next?" She asked and at the sight of her sharp bravery, the cops barreled into the bar, right as the civilians began shouting at the perps.
"How did you do that?" Hartley asked of her, after they had left the bar, and Julia had gotten her drink for free and a bunch of free drinks, for a lot of the next years to come.
"I saw it in his head, Hartley. I can predict moves before they come and looking into their heads, that is a very helpful part of it." Julia pointed out as she continued walking, until they hit his car. "I had one drink, you had two Hart. Keys are mine." Julia spoke with a serious tone and Hartley hands her the keys without protest or question.
Julia's phone rang and using his hearing, Hartley located it before she did and his eyes flashed. "Harrison Wells?" He asked coldly and Julia's eyes were downcast immediately.
"He wants to do experiments on me, I picked up the phone one time, and he told me. I keep blocking his number... but, he's--"
"Harrison Wells." Hartley spat out coldly and he hung up the phone, as she took it back from him.
They both got into the car in silence after that, as Julia buckled herself up and backs out of the parking spot into the lot. She drove out onto the street and made her way back to her house, where she heard pain filled thoughts, and she swerved suddenly, clenching her head in agony as she shouted in a horrible pain.
"Julia?" Hartley asked and Julia managed to slam on the brakes and throw the vehicle into park, and she staggered out of his car, holding her head and gasping for air. Hartley shut the car off and got out quickly, as Julia shakes her head.
"Something's happening to Kate. I don't know who, but someone is in there." Julia spoke up as her eyes now burned with agony.
Hartley opened up the glove compartment and there was a gun in his hand now. "Hartley, what are you doing with a gun?" Julia asked quietly and she manages to focus on Hartley's emotions, locking onto his mind to try to calm down her own mind.
"I'm trying to help." Hartley murmured and he loaded the gun swiftly, as they both made their way over to the house.
Julia held a knife in her hand in silence, as she crept over to the door and her hand touched the handle to open it, only for it to already be open.
Julia flipped the hood of her purple hoodie up, as she walks into the total darkness of the room usin' her mental abilities to guide herself.
She felt Hartley's hand holding hers and she narrowed her focus a little bit more.
"Kate, can you hear me?"
"Julia?? I don't know who it is, but they have me stuck. I can't really do anything, they have me!"
"Just stay calm. I am here with Hartley."
"What can you guys do?"
"Sorry for intruding, but I don't understand this mental link at all whatsoever."
"I promise, I swear that I will explain this to you one day Hartley. The short version, is that I am linking our minds up to the central channel, meaning my mind."
"Oh. Not as complicated as I thought that it would be."
"I'm not giving you the complicated version yet. Your brain would explode from everything."
"If you say so."
"Whoever you are, you should let my housemate go, or you really won't like what happens next." Julia warned and the lights came on suddenly and lucky for her, she had shut her eyes and had been relyin' on her powers entirely, so she wasn't overly affected by it.
"Jules?" Julia opened her eyes and she shouted in annoyance, at the fact that it was her much older and rather annoying older brother Ray Palmer in her living room.
Hartley slipped the gun into Julia's hands, as he stood behind her and at the touch of the metal, Julia slipped it into the waistband of her pants, after she turned on the safety. "You should have called, you idiot! I almost, put a bunch of bullet holes in your ass!" She snapped and Ray laughed, as she hugs him.
"Sorry, didn't realize that I was going to be accused of hurting your friend." Ray said and looked over her shoulder at Hartley, who was looking rather awkwardly at the unexpected family reunion.
"Raymond, you remember Hartley Rathaway right?" Julia asked and Ray nodded, as the two guys shook hands, with Hartley lookin' tensed a bit. "You had better have booked a hotel room Ray, because we don't have any more rooms to spare. I'm in one of them, Kate has the Master bedroom and Hartley is taking the second and last guest room. I don't need your snores going up from the couch to us. I have trouble sleeping, as it is." Julia said coldly and she drew back her hood.
"I'm going to sleep." She muttered as Ray looked almost injured by her tone of voice, as Julia walks up the stairs in a contemplative silence. "Night Hart, night Kate." She eventually called out and the two mentioned just looked at each other.
"Night Jules." Hartley murmured and he jogs up the stairs after her, as Kate was already snoring in her room.
