"Hartley, why are you cooking?" Julia had a list of what she would never see Hartley Rathaway doin' in his life and at the top of the list, was cooking for either himself or anybody else, while people are on that topic. The question just popped out without any warning or hesitation, and Hartley chuckled at her.
"I wanted to do something nice. I am still allowed to do that, right?" Hartley asked and looked over at her, as Julia shrugged.
"I just never thought, that I would ever willing see you in the kitchen on your own time." Julia admitted and he chuckled, as he shakes his head.
"I used to cook for myself, when my parents were away on business which was often. The maids and whatnot, all of them were around, but I cooked for myself." Hartley said and he handed her a plate, heaped with eggs, toast, bacon and hashbrowns.
Julia started eating her food real quickly and she just stared at the food in silence, as now Hartley raised his eyebrows at her. "Are you going to breathe?" He asked and she shrugged her shoulders, as she continued to eat her food.
"I will breathe, now that I'm done my food. Now, thanks for breakfast, but I really need to get to work." Julia said, after quickly washing her dishes with a hurried air about her.
"You need a ride?" Hartley asked and Julia grabbed a motorcycle helmet off of the hook next to a set of keys.
"Thanks, but no thanks." Julia said and when Kate came down the stairs, she tossed Julia's bag at her. "Thanks Kate. Don't kill each other." Julia said seriously, as she slung the strap of her bag over her shoulder and adjusted it, as she walked out of the door.
"How does she get to work?" Hartley asked and Kate walks over to the door to their house and she opened it, as an engine revved.
Hartley followed Kate, and he stuck his head out of the front door. Julia's motorcycle kicked up dust, and her engine roared.
Hartley laughed a bit, and Julia drove off past his car, and took off down the street. "How long has she had it?" He asked Kate, who chuckled a bit.
"Before the particle accelerator explosion, she had some guy named Ronnie build it back up for her, out of some spare parts." Kate said with a shrug and she walked back inside of the house as Hartley narrows his eyes a bit.
"Ronnie Raymond." He mumbled the name to himself, recognizing that the name had belonged to the fiancé of a former fellow employee of S.T.A.R lab and that Ronnie was gone.
Kate's exact words of 'Build It' had given Hartley a good idea though, as it happened to be and he took his car to the dump down the street, and began to think about just exactly what it was that he was plannin' to build and how long it would take.
Julia came back home from work to find Hartley, surrounded by old spare pieces of equipment from what looks like everywhere in different careers.
"Should I be concerned?" She asked and he looked over at her with a grin that seems a lot more like the Hartley that seemed to disappear when their city had blown up.
"You wanna help?" He asked and Julia's face broke into a grin to match his, as she handed him a coffee from Jitters and she put her bag onto the couch.
"So, what were you thinking with this? It looks like you have processors, computer motherboards... a lot of junk from the dump down the street and have a plan in mind. What can I do to help?" Julia asked and Hartley's grin was worth it.
"You have a toolbox anywhere?" He asked and Julia laughed, as she messed up his hair, before she stood up and went to get the toolbox.
"I've got the toolbox in here. I was trying to fix the sink." Kate sounded desperate and Julia groaned quietly at the sight of the leaking waterline, and she sighs. "Can you fix it?" Kate was asking and Julia crouched next to it to inspect the damage, as she rolled onto her back to get a better look.
"Crap. Hand me the wrench. Then do me a favor and get Brett on the line. I can fix it temporarily, but he is gonna have to fix it for us." Julia spoke to her housemate, clearly annoyed about it.
"Everything okay in here?" Hartley asked and Julia shakes her head, before she accidentally smacked it on the pipe.
"Shit!" Came her painful sounding shout from under the sink, as Hartley walked over to her.
He calmly squatted down next to Julia's toolbox on her right, as Kate started talking on the phone rather frantically in the other room. "Pipe burst again?" Hartley guessed as Julia sighed in annoyance, as she managed to temporarily keep the pipe from a serious leak.
"No shit." She muttered and held out the wrench, which Hartley took from her, and she managed to get out from under the sink without further injury.
"Brett is on his way. He also wanted to know if..." Poor Kate didn't even get to finish her sentence, before Julia was tearing into the idea.
"Sorry. But, no, I am definitely not going out with him. For what honestly does really feel like the thousandth time this month. You can have him if he's that nice." Julia snapped sharply and rolled her eyes, as Kate was now wincing at the harsh tone, in her best friend's voice. "Now, Hartley, let's get building on your new project." Julia's tone was back to the normal one, and Hartley didn't know whether to be happy that she was, or whether to be scared, that she was so quick to flip a switch to change her moods anymore.
