2.10 : Responsibility As A Man

"why are you here?"

Grace look at the shock Lucas and the crying Rachel , she silently smirk

She already saw Rachel coming when Adam plan to leave that's why she took this chance to say it and gain Rachel pity

And the result is what she expected,

"Lucas, is what she said true? Do you really have a child?"

Rachel ignore the man question as she ask while trying not to cry infront of them

Child

They had a child!!

This sudden information stab Rachel heart ruthlessly without giving her a chance to notice it

The heartache is too unbearable for her to bear so despite her unwillingness to show weakness, countless tears trickle down in her pale face

Lucas didn't show expression in his face and remain silent as ac​qui​esce

Grace, who been observing the whole time took this opportunity as she then starting her act

Holding Rachel hands tightly with her face filled with guilt and sadness, she made a smile that was worse than crying

"Rachel I'm sorry, I know I've been wrong you when we were still young, I also know what I did isn't right even after knowing the two of you were married but.... I love him"

Rachel was choked at her words , Grace didn't wait for her response as she continue

"I love him to the point I would do such a shameful thing! I feel betrayed and heartbroken in this past few years after he broke up with me because of your marriage... I though that as long as I will remain silently by his side I would be satisfy... But I'm not.. That's why, that time I - " 'drug Lucas and force him to do the deeds because of her greed'

Of course Grace didn't say those as she can already guess just by watching her expression that it already pained her

Grace tightly clutched Rachel hands as she show an pitiful look with tears keep falling in her eyes as she speak

"I *sob* I won't be greedy, *sob* I - I just want my daughter not to be fatherless.... I don't care what rumors would spread about me but my daughter! Rachel, my daughter is just a newborn! I can't handle myself aborting it as it was too late and I'm even useless as I can't even buy her necessary needs *sob*, Rachel I'm sorry, I really don't know what to do"

"I -" Rachel was flustered, she wanted to comfort but she was interrupted by the quiet man harsh words

"Grace, have you had enough? Your lousy act should have to improvise a little so as not to be look as a clown in my advice..And just get to the point... How much do you want this time?"

Grace grumble in her inner though as she pretended to be shock at his words as her crocodile tears which was stop a minute ago burst

"Lucas you - am I that kind of woman in your heart? How... How could say that to me! Do you really love me??"

This question silence the atmosphere immediately

Rachel didn't dare to breath and want nothing more than to be invisible at this moment as she really really didn't want to hear his answer because

She really wouldn't able to handle the pain due to heartache but a little bit of hope was hidden in her heart that only she could know

Grace, on the other hand look at the man with anticipation written in her face as her heart beat faster with excitement

Two hearts beat fast, one is for fear while other is anticipation

The man in question, Lucas answer honestly without hesitation

"I do"

Rachel eyes glim down in despair but her face still maintain a smile, she stride forward to Lucas direction as she courageously said

"Then take responsibility as a man!"

"??" two question mark pop-up at Lucas heart as he was intrude by his timid wife at the word he was adding to answer

Rachel stare at Lucas apathetic eyes and continue

"Since you two still have each other heart's, you should take responsibility on your sweetheart and should take care of your daughter"

Lucas wanted to intervine but Rachel didn't let him be as she continue with her usual warm and gentle smile which now seems annoying to Lucas eyes

"Don't worry about our marriage, Grandpa already know you already had someone in your heart so he was feeling guilty all this years and said to me a past few months ago we can officially divorce if you wanted to"

"You don't have to worry about my daughter, she will definitely understand the reason of our divorce... She's a smart child after all"

"Noisy"

Rachel immediately shut-up after he said that word as her courage deflated like a balloon

Lucas massage his brows and try to remain calm and stay rational or else, he will be driven insane by the noise

Glancing at the woman infront of him, a little girl shadow was what he see from the woman face

He sigh

"I do love you, Grace -"

Grace smile in triumph, Lucas didn't glance at her and continue staring at Rachel

"- But that was in the past"

This word caused the two women emotion in chaos but that was not the end of it, his next sentence stunned them both especially Rachel

"Rachel, I know during our years in marriage that I wronged you and you pare always guilty for what happen between her and me but... That wasn't your fault and in fact your the victim in this unfortunate marriage... So.... I'm sorry"

The young master of the respectable Joker Family, and the well-known successful CEO was actually say sorry??!!

Grace who know this man for so many years was stunned in her place as she give Lucas a incredulous look but soon replace with jealousy and hatred when she glare at Rachel

When Grace and Lucas was still in relationship, She hadn't heard Lucas apologizing to her even if he makes mistake and she could only sometimes swallow her grievance and took initiative to apologize when they argue

She really can't accept this unfairness when she saw this calloused man suddenly show empathy

It would be a lie if Rachel say she's not shock at Lucas but it only last for a second before her eyes starting to cry as she subconsciously hug Lucas and pour all her grievance that she been hiding in her heart in her never ending tears

Lucas indifferently hug her, he didn't say any word of comfort and just gently pat Rachel back

But only he know, his heart flustered and his brain was muddle headed, he don't know how to comfort her other than patting

Life can be very hard sometimes and you wonder why, but a little compassion is sometimes all anyone needs to get by.
