Special Chap: Why Joonie is Joonie.

Hi! Just a reminder that this story is completely fiction, I am sure that Namjoon's real life parents are lovely people.

Also there will be some triggering themes in this chapter, as you know from chapter 48–50, Joonie was heavily abused as a child.

Any additional trigger warnings will be added.

For as long as he could remember, his home life was never great. They had their good moments here are there, but those never really lasted long either. His father came home late every night, and his mother would go out with her friends a lot of the time, and he was mostly alone. He had to learn to be independent at the early age of 4, around the time his mother started partying and going out more.  He learnt how to cook and clean for his parents, how to take a bath by himself, and even how to take care of the garden. His father had always gotten angry at his mother whenever the house was dirty, and in turn his mom would punish him the next day. Sometimes he would be locked our of the house during winter, his mother would even make him take his shirt off.

Despite this, Namjoon has never hated his mother or his father. His father didn't even know that he was the one who took care of the house, never knew that his wife left their 4 year old at home alone to take care of himself. How could Namjoon be angry at him, he technically had done nothing wrong.

It was hard work taking care of everything, balancing kindergarten, housework, dinner, and himself. He hadn't had any time left to just play. So imagine the horror of hearing that his mother was pregnant. Sure, his mother would be home more, but he honestly doubts that'll help. He worried  constantly about the thought of having to take care of his baby sister as well.

Oh how would he ever be able to manage.

His mother being home and very pregnant did actually end up changing his usual routine. On top of everything, He would have to cater to his mother's every need. If she wanted waffles, then he would have to make waffles. If she wanted a massage, he would have to massage her. If she pukes all over the floor because " the bathroom is too far and my feet hurt ", then he would have to clean the floors. If his mother decides that she needs to puke again and he happens to be below her, then he would have to go and take a shower, and of course, clean the floors again.

His father didn't help much either.  His father had to work extra long shifts with all the baby supplies they needed to buy. Again, Namjoon didn't really blame him.  He was oblivious to his wife's cruel nature. Though after these long shifts, his father would often be very grumpy as you might imagine. So coming home to a admittedly messy dinner plate, made him snap at his wife, as he thought it was her doing. And as usual, his mother would make it her mission to make him suffer the next day.

After the baby cane along, Namjoon's mother got loads of compliments on how well she looked despite the new baby, and how fresh she looked. Of course, Namjoon looked like a train wreck. The reason his mother was doing so well was because HE was taking care of the baby. Everytime she cried, it would be his job to handle, no matter how late it was. And as she was newborn, she had to feed constantly, Joonie finds himself going back every 2 hours to feed the baby, his break and lunch times was used up by him having to run home and make the baby a bottle.

Sometimes, the baby just wouldn't stop crying. He fed her, burped her, changed her nappy, found her a pacifier, tried to put her down to sleep. Nothing worked... Except- holding her and rocking her. Now doing chores as a 4 year old in general is difficult. Doing chores as a 4 year old, one handed, and holding a baby? It broke his body down. His muscles cramped and burned every time he even dared to move. Everything just.. Hurt.
