[Enjoy the long part] ~ Emily 🤍

The large, mahogany doors dawned over you, reaching to over double your height. Doors shouldn't have a huge effect on people, but these ones do. Just on the other side were groups of laughter and chits of chatters, they were muffled, echoing through the crack of the entrance.

You take a breath and wipe the sweat of your hand on the back of your dress. The gown had a nice stretchy material, making it comfortable for any person. Yet, you still pulled at it, anxious by the confined fabric. You were grateful however for the shoes, they looked almost like ballet slippers. They were pearl white and had a soft pink ribbon wrapping around each of your ankles with only a slight heel, barely even an inch tall. They kept you grounded, otherwise you would have been falling all over the place.

This was the hard part, the final shove into the open. You regret not asking to just be left alone in your bedroom, but they probably wouldn't have allowed it anyway. The King would have wanted everyone to be together, probably for security reasons. But, it was weird. You would think they would have guards escort the four of you from place to place, but there wasn't a guard in sight. It didn't stop the itching feeling on the back of your neck though, as if a ghost were looming over your shoulders. You rub the back of your neck, wiping away the nerves that rested there and ignoring the unknown sense of dread. You were just worried about this evenings dinner that's all, especially in a dress fit for a royal wedding.

"You can do this." You squeeze your eyes shut, protecting the feeling of safety from behind the doors for just a moment, before releasing and pushing forward.

It was the music you first noticed. An illustrious string of violins and triumphant golden harps reverberated around the entire hall sized room, it felt as if angels were playing the symphony themselves, eliciting strings of lively emotions and joyous feelings. The room itself glowed a vibrant golden aura, it spread from the glass droplets of the chandelier to the hundreds of wall lined candles, all skilfully placed for the best source of light. A large table presented itself, much larger than the one you were eating at just earlier today. It stretched from wall to wall and sat itself right in front of the throne podium, from what you could see, it held decorative candles and wooden art, plus assortments of savoury foods. It looked like a buffet, free for anyone to choose what they liked and what not. The rest of the room didn't contain any other furniture, besides a few marbled like benches aligning the sides of the walls. It left a huge chunk of space, like a ball room except without the copious amounts of dancers. Instead, it consisted of plenty bystanders. It looked as if the entire castle was here, all of its workers and servants. All of the girls were there too, each dressed up in beautiful gowns that stood out amongst the crowd. The King sat at his throne, watching over the hoards of people, gripping the arms of his seat in a show of power.

The Prince was there as well.

It was hard to ignore him, he stood out to you most of all. He wore his infamous crimson red robe and royal crested vest, letting the cape like fabric fly freely throughout the crowd. He danced from person to person, giving a quick nod and brief greeting until moving on. The crown he wore made him look much taller than he already was, the crown surely wasn't as big as his fathers, but it was a crown nonetheless. It wasn't fair it made him look bigger and intimating, he already had that to begin with.

"(Y/N) Aureate from Eedin has arrived." Your name was announced loudly by a guard next to the once daunting doors, now totally subdued compared to the situation you're in now. Counting the amount of eyes on you was a useless effort, you knew they were totally judging you. God, you could think of the comments now, yes you were use to rude comments, but that was in the safety of the blacksmith or in your own old clothes. Not like this, not in the middle of a glossy marbled room with too many eyes on you at once. You felt as if you were naked, completely exposed to the ice cold stares and stabs of muttered words. It was overwhelming.
