[TW: Implied racism.] ~Emily 🤍

God, this was so awkward...

You were having dinner with people who you basically didn't trust, didn't like or who didn't like you. You wanted to maybe swap seats with Elania, but that meant being stuck with Alicia's big mouth and a King who keeps secrets from everyone, including his own son, who knows what else he's hiding. To make everything worse, no one has spoken a single word since dinner started. You could cut the tension in the room with a blade (haha funny pun, everyone laugh) it was that deathly quiet, not even the sound of chews or clinks of drinks were heard.

Everyone must be thinking about it, you thought.

About you and the Prince.

Who knows what kind of stories they are coming up with, you hoped it was innocently whispered words and not the intense side that made your face flame with heated thoughts.

It was embarrassing.

You drop the floral knife in your hand, creating a loud clunk against the porcelain plate. No one seemed to care for the sudden noise, not one even lifted their heads. You were hoping the loud intrusion would at least make someone quip, mainly Victoria.

You kept trying to send her sad eyes from across the table, sometimes she would catch you, but ultimately give nothing in return. You wanted just five minutes of her time, maybe even less, just to explain the horrid predicament you got yourself in. If she knew about the murder - maybe then she'd listen.

You tried to keep an optimistic mind. You could never know for certain if it was a murder, all you knew was that they found a 'body,' whether it was another animal, you might never find out. You would probably need the Blades help with that, cause there is no way the King will tell you, it's not like you're close with him anyway, no matter how much you admire him.

But, it doesn't look like you're gonna get anything out of the Prince any time soon. He hasn't even given a glance since dinner started, it hurt you in a way. Even if it was to be expected, especially after his truthful words. It's true what they say then.

The truth always hurts.

He just happens to make it hurt more.

"Everyone's a bit quiet tonight, something I missed?" The King chuckled out an anxious laugh. Everyone stiffed up in their seats, some more noticeable than others. Obviously, a lot of people inside the group wanted to finish the night without conversing.

It was mainly you though.

"How about you ask (Y/N)." Alicia spat.

Oh god.

You really didn't want to talk about this right now, it barely just happened too. In fact, it didn't happen at all.

Just keep denying.

"Nothing happened, Alicia." You said, getting a brow from the King.

You looked towards the Blade for even a hint of support, he only stared back blankly.

"Deny it all you want, commoner, you could never look as good as me anyway." Alicia flips her wrist around, admiring her polished nails. Wait, 'look as good as me?'

What the...

"Alicia, I seriously have no idea what you're talking about." You give her a turned down look, very obviously confused.

"Very funny (Y/N), you can't get away with calling me a mule, you are not as shy and oblivious as you act." She churns her nose.

Mule? You never called her that! What is she going on about?
