To say the inside was glorious was an understatement, it was extraordinary.
Never have you seen anything like this, even in your dreams, you would have never imagined anything to this extent. The walls were made out of white marble, plastered with gold accents and pillars that held the roof to its amazing height. A giant staircase placed right in the center of the castle, it split into three directions, one to the east, one to the west and one to the north. The decorations were nothing to dismiss as well, family portraits hung on the walls showing the royal family, even The Blade. He held a strong, stone cold face, with a red royal robe draped over his body. In this painting, he looked like true royalty. There was even one with The King, he was shown to be standing next to The Blade, with one hand on his shoulder, while his son sat comfortably in a royal throne.
The ground floor was full of people too. Men in metal armour were guarded with their backs to the wall, stiff with a spear at their hands, never taking their eye off one another. But, there were mostly a lot of men and women running around with tight fitted black suits and dresses. Some were carrying silver platters holding miscellaneous glass objects, while others were holding baskets or just running to their next duty. It was pretty chaotic to say the least, some of the women with you were overwhelmed as well.
Victoria looked shell shocked, similar to you. Her mouth was completely agape, as she gripped to her dress for support. She did have an excited glint in her eyes though, like a child with a bucket of cotton candy. She must be used to being in the background of all the royal business, now she was in the full center of it all. Alicia on the other hand didn't look any different, in fact, she looked almost dissatisfied.
Elania...
You were pretty sure she hasn't even noticed she's inside a golden, marble castle right now. She has been fixing her hair since the moment she walked through the doors.
"Welcome to the castle of Eedin ladies," the man who brought you in spoke. He looked like your typical butler, with his slicked black hair and silver wired glasses. He was maybe in his late fifties or sixties, based on his slight white streaks and soft wrinkles. He did though have the kindest eyes, dark and calm. His eyes reminded you of your fathers, wait, fathers? "His majesty will greet you all shortly and explain your stay further, until then, please follow me." The man started walking towards and up the castle stairs.
You wanted to ask about family and visitations, but knowing you were speaking to The King soon, it would be easier just to ask him. Besides, all the other girls were already following suit and walking up the stairs.
At the top of the staircase was a big wooden double door, it looked like the same wood from the carriage. It was smooth and quite shiny.
"This is the throne room, this is where you will have all your meals and morning conversions." The man pushed both doors with his hands, "enjoy."
Light glowed through the open doors, inviting all of you in. The throne room was huge with a long rectangle table placed in the center of the room, the table was maybe five meters long and was already set with plates, napkins and red table linen. The throne itself was placed at the end of the room, on a higher stone type stage, with steps leading up to it. Another throne chair was placed directly right to it, it was a bit smaller in comparison. The most noticeable part of the room however, was the golden crystal chandelier and the wall length windows. The windows let in all the warm sun, making the room truly glow like burning fire.
"Woah." It was the only thing you could say, but it summed up everything you are feeling perfectly. Excitement, temptation, reverence, uneasiness. It was all there, it was all overwhelming. But damn, did it feel so good and so perfect.
"Woah indeed," the man said, directing towards the table. "Please sit in your designated seats, I will see if The King is ready to meet all of you." And with that, he politely closed the doors behind him, letting the four of you take everything in.
"Eh," Alicia was the first to move, going straight towards the table to find her spot.
The table had a total of six chairs, each properly spaced out and each enough to hold four beautiful women, a King and a Prince. Two chairs were faced at the two heads of the table, while the other four were facing each other from across the sides of the table. Each chair also held a note with a person's name on it, written in black ink.
The four of you found your designated spots, yours was on the right, closest to the throne, across from Victoria. You both give each other a thankful smile and take a seat.
"Ugh, seriously?" Alicia looked at you, back to her chair and back to you.
"Looks like you're gonna have to break your ten meter rule sweetheart." You say in a mocking tone, giving her a quick grin before looking away.
She groans and huffs before taking a seat.
"This is quite surreal don't you think?" Victoria asks you.
"Yea actually, I would probably be melding something at the blacksmith around this time." You said.
"It's not as good as my fathers throne." Alicia chimes in, leaning one of her elbows on the table.
"Oh my gosh, this throne room looks so pretty." Elania said, playing with her hair.
"Hello? I said my fathers one is way better, does no one know how to listen?" Alicia barked out.
"But Alicia, are you even next in line to your own throne?" Elania spoke, getting a rise out of Alicia. The two of them start arguing back in fourth, except it was mainly Alicia getting mad and Elania just acting like a rock.
"Well this is fun." Victoria said.
"Sure is". You reply.
The two of you watch the girls bicker, enjoying the entertainment it brought.
That was when the doors opened yet again and the four of you went dead silent.
"Ladies." The King entered the room, walking to the head dining chair. "Terribly sorry for the wait, I had to deal with some... problems." He sat down at the head of the table, fixing up his crown as he got comfortable. "So, what's the talk nowadays?"
