Ow!-

Shit.

Your head bumps roughly on the velvet roof of the carriage.

Great.

Fantastic.

This is exactly how you wanted to spend your day, being forcefully shoved into an unknown carriage that just reeks of musty old royalty. It did look quite beautiful on the inside however, from the carved mahogany to the velvet accents, stitched throughout the carriage. To anyone else, this would be a holiday, a blessing, a dream.

But, this isn't a dream.

Clutching to your sachet, you think of a plan to get out of here. Your first thought was to dramatically break the window attached to the carriage door, but then you would have to awkwardly slug yourself through the small exit, ending up flopping to the ground with your face in the cement. So, probably not the best idea.

Not to mention you would get badly hurt, but anyway.

Before you could think of something else, two loud bangs were heard on the side of the carriage, then a shout.

Welp, so much for a plan. Cause now you're moving.

You watched helplessly out the window as surroundings disappeared and new ones came into view. Sighing, you give up and relax into the uncomfortably soft cushion, listening to the trotting of multiple hooves take you away.

You know, thinking back on it now. You could've probably just opened the door and run away, escaping into the stone buildings, hiding until the ghost was clear. But, then again, maybe that thought already crossed your mind.

Maybe you were curious.

Maybe you wanted this to happen.

Of course that can't be true? Why would you want this to happen, you practically have the perfect life. Sure, you don't have a social life, you work constantly and consistently every single day, wake up each morning prepared to fix something.

Because that is what you're best at, fixing everything else except yourself.

Shut up.

I mean, not to be a downer. But, when was the last time you actually went out? Like really when out, with people.

Shut up.

And I don't mean pieces of iron and the heat of the furnace, I mean real living breathing people (Y/N).

Shut up.

Though, you did bang your head didn't you? Let's just blame it on that shall we? Because, there is no way you're actually thinking that this exact moment could possibly change your life forever, even if it just gives you a slight damn break.

Shut up!

You slam your head back on the wood, hearing a large crack.

Your heart thumps with every trot.

Relax, (Y/N).

Just relax.

Anxiety attacks are never fun. Since the death of your mother, they've become quite persistent. The stress of constant, angry customers everyday with multiple tasks and jobs for you to finish and the small space of the carriage, aren't exactly helping you either.

Breathing helps.

You breathe in deep, feeling the air stretch out your lungs, it hurts almost. But, the exhilarating rush of air that bursts out from being held in is the best feeling.

Instead of thinking about how and why you're here, let's just enjoy the ride.

It's bumpy, but that's to be expected. Old wooden wheels against the cracked stone and miscellaneous pot holes and rocks, at least you weren't hitting your head anymore. Deliberately and not.

Looking outside now, you were definitely in the more wealthy area. Easily noticed by the smooth modern marbling and much more greenery. Plus the gigantic palace that was slowly coming into view.

The palace is infamously known for its yellowish tinge, many victories bring many riches, of which include multitudes of gold. So much in fact that they decided to "show off", by adding it to their royal palace. If you think about it though, it also shows how scary The Blade and his army is. The gold may shine beautifully under today's sun, but it also shines down on the people who gave up their lives for that very glow.

A wall guarded the palace, it's size was nothing to be underestimated. Built with solid limestone and an iron entrance, it was one of the biggest security measures of the castle, the height towered over all the outside buildings, reaching the size of many large trees. It was threatening, that's for sure. Yea, you could maybe climb up one of the trees to get inside, but how are you gonna get out? It's both a shield and a trap. No way in, no way out.

And you are going to be one of the four lucky people trapped inside, how fun.

The carriage came to a slugged stop, a bit of chatter was said before a screeching creak was heard, it was so loud it made your head pound. The iron gates were pushed open with tremendous force, that's when you felt movement again. It was less bumpy this time, probably due to the bricked road rather than cobblestone.

You were inside now, the loud clash of metal closing together was all that was needed to shoot dread down your spine.

The castle was more in view, very much more in view. There was a large field surrounding the palace, full of gardens, hedges and trees that you have never seen before. It was all new, it gave you a sort of buzz. Being trapped inside might sound bad, but being trapped inside a literal royal palace made with gold, sounds a bit less bad. Maybe once they let you go, or do whatever they need to do. You could look at some of these gardens, it was honestly very pretty. To run away for a bit sounds good right about now, even if it's still inside these walls.

Your carriage came to a complete halt, looking out through your right window now, you were stopped in front of the palace stairs, a red carpet leading right to you.

This was it.

No going back now.
