Kiko's happy face stared up at Mikasa. Levi could see Mikasa's eyes widen when she looked at her. Kiko looked a lot like Mikasa. Mei noticed her surprise and smiled. "Ah, yes. Kiko is your cousin."
"Your mother's sister had a child, unfortunately, they both died when she had just been born. We've been taking care of her collectively, we protect our own," Mei's voice seemed hard. Levi looked around, mentally counting in his head. 12 boys and 12 girls. Mei saw Levi staring at them and hurriedly said, "Kiko, why don't you show our guests to the Sim room. You can show them you high score." Kiko nodded excitedly, bouncing on the balls of her feet. Her little high pitched voice floated back to them as she skipped away towards the building, "It's really fun, you should all try it." When Levi followed her through the doors, a stranv room met his eyes. Everything was made out of metal.
Kiko was in the far corner pressing a confusing array of buttons and controls. Hange was practically drooling at all the technology she saw. Kiko seemed to be finished with what she was doing and trotted back over towards them.
She directed them to a corner, telling them not to move from the corner until the simulation was finished. She skipped back into the center of the room and waited.
Suddenly the room whirred to life, metal clanking and groaning. Levi's eyes widened as shadowy figures came out if nowhere, lunging at the tiny child in the center of the roo. Levi hadn't noticed, but Kiko had donned some black gloves and black socks. Levi watched Kiko fight the shadowy figures that seemed to pulse and shimmer, not completely solid. Her style was very similar to Mei's. Every time her hand or foot came into contact with one of he figures, a burst of white light emanated from the spot where she had connected. Suddenly, there were no shadows left and the whirring noises stopped.
Kiko skipped happily over to where they all stood. " That's level 4, it goes all the way to 100. Mei and Feng were the only ones who have ever gotten that far," she explained. She got no farther as Hange raced outside. Erwin sighed and followed Hange to find her deep in discussion with Mei, animatedly talking about the technology. Armin joined him and everyone else stood there uncomfortably because they didn't get the mechanics like Hange and Armin did. Mei paused for a moment, " If you want, you guys can try out the Sim, Kiko can work it for you." Mei disappeared inside different builing , Hange and Armin trailing after her. Erwin turned to look at the tiny Asian girl,"Well?" he asked, "Can you show us how the room works?" Kiko nodded cheerfully, trotting back over to the strange building. Levi was curious, more curious than he'd like to admit. Kiko was explaining the Sim to everyone, " It recognizes each different person who uses it. You have to beat each level to move on to the next. Mei had us learn how to use it in pairs, so we didn't have to complete each level by ourselves." Levi could tell Erwin was very interested. His ice blue eyes scanned over them and he said, "Levi, why don't you and Mikasa give it a shot? You are the best soldiers we have." Levi's heart stuttered a bit but he kept his expression neutral. "Alright," he said nonchalantly. Mikasa didn't say anything, she just stepped forward to take the gloves and socks Kiko was holding out for her. Levi put his on as well and stepped up to the center of the room beside Mikasa. The room whirred to life.
