ariana kept running as fast as her feet would take her across the great big hall on the fourth floor. it was almost midnight, and her crew, dancers, friends, family and everybody who had accompanied her on her tour should be fast asleep for their flight tomorrow back to los angeles. but ariana couldn't risk it. she couldn't risk her heart pulling back anymore - not when she finally had the courage.
she needed to do this. tonight. or she may never find the guts to do it again.
"dalton, are you... are you awake?" ariana panted breathlessly, with one arm pressed against the door. her lungs might just kill her in this moment... but she didn't care.
it didn't take long for the door to open, and for ariana to flinch backwards. there, her eyes met with a confused dalton, whose hotel room's lights had been dimmed. he was about to go to sleep, but ariana caught him just in time. "ari... what are you doing here? it's late."
"it was you."
dalton stared at her, bewildered. "what?"
ariana pushed her way into dalton's room, still panting from her sprint. dalton shut the door behind him, still confused beyond his mind. he approached ariana, his expression revealing puzzlement. "i'm not understanding what you're -
"i kept telling my friends over and over..." ariana interrupted him, looking straight into his eyes. "i kept telling them 'something doesn't make sense', or 'something doesn't feel right' during my entire relationship with tom. and i think i knew what it was... but i never wanted to admit it out loud because i didn't believe in my own feelings." ariana's expression became much softer just before saying the words she didn't think she would ever say. "that 'something'... it was you."
