"i'm so sorry! pardon me! excuse me!"
tom kept pushing and shoving past the crew and dancers backstage to find ariana. he needed to find ariana. the songs she sang toward the end of her set... that sealed it for him. she knew.
she knew everything.
as soon as the encore ended with thank u, next, tom left behind his family and zendaya with only one goal in his mind. the pictures that flashed before him in the article was all that he could see as he dashed through the corridors and through the jam-packed halls.
he needed to find her. he needed to apologize.

sweetenerworldtourupdates: in a surprise move, the second last act of the swt for london night four was completely different from any of her other shows. She performed in order: imagine, ghostin, in my head, and an acoustic piano version of better off. Although fans were surprised, they embraced the change openly, and are praising the direction of the concert on social media

user1: it's really insensitive that she performed ghostin especially since it's about Mac. Like geez
user2: she must've done it bc she was hurting 😔
user3: she sounded so beautiful, but so sad. I wish I could give her a hug
user4: I was there; she handled the stage all by herself. No dancers, no flashy lights. Just her. It was such an amazing experience. But she appeared to be very sad. I hope she's alright

"ari!"
her intention was to go straight to her dressing room, and stay there for the next little while. not wanting to talk to anyone. not wanting to look at anyone. not wanting to answer to anyone. she just wanted to be alone. but once she heard dalton's voice calling for her, she immediately turned around - feeling comfort and familiarity within him. "hey."
dalton took notice of her gloomy expression. her sad eyes reflected too much sorrow. her makeup stayed intact... but there could be no covering of pain. without a second thought, he scooped her into his arms, and rested his head on top of her own. ariana countered by wrapping her arms around him, falling into the much needed embrace. "i'm alright..."
"you don't have to pretend around me." dalton reminded her gently, gently running a hand down her back. "you're allowed to feel everything you're feeling."
a moment longer, ariana tore herself away from dalton reluctantly. dalton offered a her a smile. "your friends were looking for you."
"please tell them i'm okay." ariana mumbled keeping her head down. "i just wanted to spend a few moments -
"ariana! i was looking everywhere for you!"
that familiar, once warm and inviting british accent now filled her ears, and once ariana turned around to meet eyes with the man who broke her heart... her demeanour and guard instantly went up. "... alone."
"you fucking little shit," dalton's voice exerted an aggressive growl - as if he was about to beat the living shit out of tom. it took all of ariana's physical strength to act as a barrier between the two of them.
"dalton, stop." ariana spoke sternly, holding his shoulders restrictively. "please leave me be for a little while."
he knew she didn't intend to hurt him. she needed time to talk to tom - as doug already told him. he didn't say anything - merely offering a nod, and walked away from the pair whose minds and hearts have been utterly shattered by lies, deceit and guilt.
