"stop being so fucking dramatic - jesus christ!"
it was another one of their regular fights. it wasn't always like this; the early months of their relationship had been so beautiful. malcolm and ariana were two perfectly linked puzzle pieces. his ying to her yang. she was the water to his soil, and a beautiful love blossomed between the two souls. but every relationship has cracks. problems. issues. and theirs seemed to have come a lot sooner than they were hoping.
"malcolm, please. don't go." ariana was clutching onto his hand so that he wouldn't reach for the doorknob. deep inside of her, she had a terrible feeling. even though she wasn't able to describe it, or even pinpoint where it was coming from... she felt it within herself to not let him walk out the door. "i don't want to go through that again!"
"go through what again?" malcolm snapped, turning around to face his girlfriend with fire-raging eyes. "losing your fucking shit over where the hell i am? who i'm with? what drugs i'm overdosing on? you have no faith in me that i can't go anywhere without you fucking coddling me?"
"i just want you safe!" ariana pleaded, tears streaming down her face. "i don't want to lose you!"
"well it doesn't matter, does it?" malcolm shook his head in annoyance and yanked his arm from ariana's grip. "i'm already dead anyways."
"what...?" ariana was lost for words with malcolm's words. she had been so stunned, malcolm took advantage of her guard being down and walked past her. right towards the door.
"no, malcolm please!"
"whatever, ariana. it's not like you care if i'm found in a ditch the next morning."
"NO PLEASE! MALCOLM NO!"
"DON'T GO!"
ariana shot up from the bed, clutching the white bedspreads to her chest. she was heaving - sweat was dripping from her forehead. tom was woken up by the sudden outburst, and immediately put his arm around ariana after seeing her panicked expression. "what's wrong, ariana?"
"i... i..." ariana stuttered, glancing over to a worried tom. the concern in his eyes soothed her slightly, but she had still been breathing heavily. "malcolm... my dream... it seemed so real..."
ariana broke off eye contact, and turned her gaze towards the floor. tears were pooling in her eyes, and on the verge of spilling down her cheeks. "he was about to leave... and as i tried stopping him... he said that it didn't matter since... since he was already dead."
in a heartbeat, tom engulfed ariana into his arms fully. it didn't take long before ariana began profusely sobbing onto his shoulder. hearing the cries of the woman he loved more than anything shattered tom's heart. he tried soothing her by gently running his hand up and down her back, and placing a kiss on her temple. "it's alright, my love. it was nothing but a bad dream. he wouldn't have felt that way at all. it wasn't really him."
ariana nodded gently, but it was still clear to tom that she was agitated. breaking their embrace for a brief minute, tom held ariana's petit face within his hands, and wiped her tears away with his thumb before kissing her cheek. "i'm here, beautiful. i always will be."
