"Maybe we can play cricket or do catching practice. Whatever you prefer." Arnav said grinning. It was games period. The soil was damp and soft, smelling of freshly turned earth. The weather was none too sunny and none too cold. It was perfect.
"So, what have you decided?" Arnav asked looking at Samarth.
Arnav was always the one with an athletic build. He was good at sports.
Maybe that is his talent. Samarth thought.
He opened his mouth to answer but before he could utter a word, he felt something hit him hard in the shoulder and he staggered a step back.
"Out of the way, trash.", Madhav yelled and resumed playing football with his friends. He was so concentrated that he didn't even throw an apology or glance at him as Samarth clutched his throbbing shoulder. If Madhav had thrown any harder Samarth was sure he would have had a broken shoulder.
"Hey", Madhav screamed to the boy in front of him. "GET THAT BALL! GET THAT BALL!"
Samarth turned and quickly located the ball. His eyes widened when he saw where the ball was going. The sewage across the road.
Samarth realized, he was the closest to the ball. Without waiting for anything, he quickly ran towards where the ball was racing. Faster than he had ever run, he got a step in front of the ball and stopped it.
Samarth frowned, angry at Madhav. What a jerk! Then he immediately changed his expression and didn't say anything.
Madhav and his cronies came running towards him.
"I still have ten rupees from yesterday, if you need anything?", Samarth said.
"Huh?", Madhav frowned, eyeing Samarth.
He knew Madhav was going to open his big mouth and ask him what was his deal.
So, before that couldhappen, Samarth turned his back on him with a smirk forming on his face as hewent away.
