"You sick bastard!" I said as I backed away from him and looked around for my bag "What were you planning on doing to us?!"

"Calm down" he said rolling his eyes and smiling "I'm not an Inhuman"

"The fuck does that mean?! You are a beast!"

"Enough of the paranoia, can you please calm down"He said with annoyance "You are being ridiculous"

"You're a deceiver so you can't say shit!" I said as I grabbed my bag and stood close to the still unconscious Axel.

"I never told you I was human...but I'm not an infected either so can you chill the fuck out?!" he snapped as he stood up and glared at me "You were the one being gullible"

I couldn't say anything back because he was right about me being too trusting. I still stood my ground and grabbed a knife from a pocket in my bag and sneered at the beast. He groaned and rolled his eyes. I charged at him with the knife and swung at him as he dodged my attacks.
"Ember please sit down. You're weak still" he said calmly as he kept maneuvering around my blade with ease.
"How are you so quick?!" I snapped with frustration as I kept swinging
"It's not that I'm quick. It's that your strength isn't completely back yet"
"Shut up and die you fake!" I said as I tried to kick him down. He grabbed my leg mid swing and pushed me back down to the mattress.

I tried getting back up but I struggled doing so as I had a hard time catching my breath. I felt dizzy and like I had run a marathon without water.

"See? I told ya! Now stay down...you need to rest" Grey said as he sat back down.

"What is your motive?" I said with anger as I scooted myself farther from him "You tried to butter me up and try and make me like you just so I could be weak to you! You creatures are sick"

"Praise yourself all you want Ember, but you are wrong. I have no intention of killing you, so you are wasting energy" Grey groaned as he capped the syringe he was holding.

I was confused with his words and had suspicions about his intentions. I softened my defensive stature but kept my guard as I asked "What are you saying?"

He took off his mask and looked at me with an unhappy grin. His eye had a deep bag like the infected but his face was still human. Normally you can see a slight alteration in their facial structure before they change form. But he looks completely normal besides the bags and the retractable fangs I saw earlier. Which also is weird because infected people's fangs aren't normally able to be hidden.

"You are really ignorant are you?" He said laughing as he put his hand over his eyepatch "Just look at me for a minute"

I watched as he took off his eyepatch revealing a huge scar where his eye used to be. It looked to have been removed surgically. I didn't understand at first but then it hit me.

"The roach...was removed?"

"Yes it was. I was cured of the roach. It doesn't take away everything but it makes you have morals again that's for sure. Luckily Alpha found me when he did. It was almost too late for me"

"Alpha?"

"Sorry, I haven't spoken to outsiders for a long while I guess. I'm part of a group of people who live in what we now call The Sál District. It used to be a shopping mall but now it's our headquarters and we call it home. We are a group of cured infected who are trying to cure more people"

"There are others? More people like you? But I don't understand. How am I supposed to trust you?"

"Because you are still alive"
