Todoroki's POV

After the line disconnected, I felt hopeless and lost my will to pick up the scattered coins and try to call back. What was the point, anyway? It would just cut off again and again until I had no more coins to spare, and I already barely had any in the first place.

A small part of me said that I should get up and go back inside before Touya gets back and realised what I'd done, but my lack of energy and motivation crossed that out, and for the moment I was okay with being a miserable mess on the floor. At least, since we were a ways away from the city, there weren't as many creeps walking around at night.

But that doesn't mean I should let my guard down. The streets were called 'the streets' for a reason.

But still, even though I was trying as hard as I could to be aware, I startled and let out a throaty cry when someone grabbed my shoulder with a tight grip.

The grip reminded me of my father's punishing hands, and the way he used to grab me before throwing me down again, and how he would –

"Todoroki, thank god."

My breath hitched at the sound of the voice, and my eyes watered when I looked up and saw a familiar set of tired eyes.

"A-Aizawa Sensei."

For a moment I was star-struck as to how he had found me so quickly despite being all the way at UA, but then I realised that he was in his hero outfit, and came to the conclusion that he must have been in the area, and probably tracked my call.

So that's why Touya didn't want me to use the phone. It was so our location wouldn't be tracked, I thought.

The teacher by day and hero by night was crouched in front of me, his hand resting gently – not harshly – on my shoulder, and only squeezing slightly. "Todoroki, where are you hurt?"

I inhaled a loud breath and swallowed. "My arm, but it's okay. I'm just a little feverish."

The teacher nodded, letting go of my shoulder and moved closer to inspect my arm. He sighed softly at the state of it, and shook his head, clearly in disapproval of how it had been treated.

He cleared his throat. "Where's your brother? Where have you been staying?"

I blinked slowly. "Touya went to get some takeout. We've been hiding in that apartment building over there." I pointed to the alley I came from, which wasn't very informative in my opinion.

Aizawa only nodded. "Were there any other villains, or was it just you and your brother?"

"It was just me and him." I answered.

He nodded again, thinking up a plan in his head. "Okay, I need you to listen to me, okay?" I nodded slightly, and he continued. "Usually, I would call for backup and would arrest your brother before taking you back to UA, but I understand that this case is a lot more delicate than that, and so I'm willing to talk to your brother before taking you. I need to share a few words with him."

I was shocked that Aizawa would ever suggest something like that, but I was still grateful that he wasn't going to be arresting Touya. It was nice to know that someone was working to see the whole picture.

After agreeing to Aizawa's proposal, we made our way back to where I had been staying – well, Aizawa carried me, but that's not important – and successfully made it inside with no trouble.
