Date With The Boyz

Shikamaru waits outside with a box a spicy curry filled dumplings, his free hand in his pocket as he waits for the man of the hour. The door to the house/tea shop he waits in front of opens and a boy a bit shorter than him tackles him to a hug. Shikamaru struggles a bit to keep the dumplings steady, "Hey, you want to ruin your lunch?"

"Lunch," you question and gasp when you finally see what he's holding.

"What's the occasion?"

"Do I really need one," he asks and gets out of your hold to just drape his arm around you. Waving to the servers that work at your parents shop, the both of you walk into town for a day out. Sometimes when there are no missions, you honestly rather just stay home all day but you do think about your friends often so you jump at any chance to hang out with them. Naruto you're with almost everyday, especially since you are on the same team, so it is refreshing being with other friends. "Let's eat there," Shikamaru points out a roof top not far from the academy. Jumping up there, he sets down the food and opens it, serving you first.

Thanking him, you take a bite and wonderful flavors burst in your mouth.

"Ah, so hot but so good," you try to breath in cold air.

"Didn't anyone teach you to blow your food before eating?"

"Didn't anyone teach you to mind your own business?"

"Not when it comes to you."

Looking over, Shikamaru has his palms behind him as he watches the sky. Observing how slow the clouds are moving and how many leaves from the trees dance in the wind. You enjoy moments like these. After your fight with Zabuza, you were shook on how malicious he was towards you only because he recognized you are the son to a man who used to be a notorious ANBU member. It made you realize more than ever to enjoy life now that yours is on the line.

"How are the missions going for you?"

"Boring," he sighs, "all we do is clean up the academy and go chase dogs whose leashes were accidentally dropped."

Laughing, the both of you talk about books and upcoming movies before cleaning up and deciding to shop for new tools. Life sure has been good yet stressful at the same time. You can't help but think if you chose the right path. After finishing up, the both of you walk around the village and you order a large hot cup of chai tea latte at your uncles stuffed biscuit shop. Shikamaru bought a bag of chips gaining your attention.

"Choji?"

"Choji."

Noticing the time by looking at the hues of the sky, you grab Shikamaru's hand and run to a bbq place you promised meeting Choji at. Getting there, you smile as you see your favorite chubby boy munching on green tea flavored chips. "Alright, whose ready to spend a million dollars," you over exaggerate making your two friends sweat drop. Ordering more meat than you can actually eat (you won't admit) you all have you own mini party at the corner of the restaurant. Choji scooches next to you to excitedly show you the cookies he found on a mission while Shikamaru lazes back and rests his thigh next to yours. There is something about you that makes you shine over the rest...and he's intrigued. Always has been since you guys were kids and it seems that what he feels for you has grown more and more intense over time.

When you came back from the Land of Waves mission, he wasn't...happy. Of course he is glad you are alive and well, but the damages that were put on you was unbelievable. Not just physical. Mental as well.

After the bbq you all went your separate ways. Lazily walking home, you decided to take a path you have not before and pass by a compound you have never visited.

Out of nowhere, someone lifts you up causing you to squeak out in surprise. "What's are you doing here, (F/N)," Kiba questions you with a huge toothy grin as he keeps you flushed against him with his arm wrapped around your back.
