09 | ice cream

"Dad, dad wake up," Liam yelled, attempting to awaken Oliver. He sat up from bed in less than a second once his eyes opened.

"What's the problem? Did something happen, are the twins okay?" Oliver asked frantically, not even waiting for Liam to respond before storming out of the room and and then into Kyler's room.

Where the twins had spent the night. Delilah was shaking on the bed, while Luca sobbed.

"What the fuck happened?!" Oliver yelled, sprinting over to the bed, grabbing Delilah in his arms.

Kyler pulled at his hair in frustration "I-I have no idea. We were sleeping when Delilah began to shake."

As he watched his younger sister, his heart ached.

"Shh, baby. It's me, daddy; you're fine. I promise, you're fine." Oliver tried to console Luca while he sobbed with his eyes tightly shut. It hurt him a lot to see his sister in pain, so he couldn't bear watching.

"We have to get her to the hospital right away!" Oliver yelled as Delilah continued to shake. Kyler rushed over and picked up Luca. The others followed Oliver out of the room and straight to the car.

Please God, please don't take my baby away. Please, we can't go through this again. Please, Oliver thought.

"Raines Family," A doctor entered the waiting room and said aloud. The family rose from their seats and followed him into the hospital's back entrance.

Where all children are cared for.

"Doctor, is she all right? Tell me she's all right, because if she's not every sing-"

"Dad, no." Archer cut him off, knowing where his words were going.

Oliver sighed as he try hard not to break. "Is my daughter all right?"

The doctor smiled warmly and nodded. "Yes she's is perfectly fine, we did run some test to see if it happened to be epilepsy, but the test came out negative. So, now I'm working hard with some doctors to figure out what's going on."

There were sighs of relief.

"How soon can we see her?" Tayler spoke up.

"You are welcome to see her now, she should be awake. Come with me."

Leading them to a room, everybody rushed passed the doctor and went inside.

Luca awoke as a result of all the sudden movement. "Lilah? Lilah," He brought his head up from Kyler's chest and looked around.

"Hi buddy, she's okay. You see, she's right there," Oliver pointed to the bed where Delilah laid still asleep, "Do want to lay with her?"

Luca nodded, wriggling free of Kyler's grasp. Luca didn't need assistance getting up to the hospital bed because it wasn't too high.

He rested his head on Delilah's shoulder. "That scared me, Lilah. I thought you were going to leave me. Please don't do that again," Luca spoke to her as she began to stir awake.

"I'm sorry, Luca, I'm sorry," she said quietly, and everyone almost missed it.

Oliver's eyes widened and he dashed over to the bed. "Sweetheart, you're awake!"

Delilah quietly apologized once more. Oliver shook his head. "No, princess, it's not your fault. Okay?"

"Okay.."

"Are you feeling better now? Is something bothering you? Are you hungry, or perhaps thirsty?"

Delilah's eyes widened as she considered something. Ice cream.

"Could I please have some ice cream?"

Oliver laughed slightly. "Ice cream? You want some ice cream right now, you silly girl?"

Delilah nodded and giggled softly. Oliver fixed his gaze on Luca. He gasped dramatically, "You want some too?!"

Luca smiled happily. "Yes."

"All right," Oliver said, looking at the boys, who were watching. "The prince and princess want ice cream, so we must get some for them."

A doctor entered the room just in time. "Hello everyone, my name is Dr. Shepherd, and I'm here to help you today. Is there anything I can do for you guys?" she asked politely.

Liam gave a nod. "Do you happen to have any ice cream, ma'am?"

Dr. Shepherd gave a nod. "Of course, we have vanilla and chocolate. Slushes are also available on the dessert menu."

"I want vanilla, but Luca said he wants chocolate," Delilah explained.

Liam returned his gaze to the lady. "Well, it appears that we'll be getting a small vanilla and chocolate ice cream, please and thank you ma'am," he said in an unusually deep tone.

Dr. Shepherd nodded and walked out of the room. It'd become awkwardly silent.

"What the fuck, man?" Kyler hit Liam on the arm, causing him to suddenly screech.

"We can all tell you were flirting, and that lady is twice your age. She's stunning, but still." Tayler stated with a knowing tone.

"Oh, fuck off," Liam said, knowing Tayler was correct.

"Hey, hey, we don't use that languag-"

"Fuck off, what does dat' even mean?" Delilah asked, dumbfounded and intrigued.

Everyone's jaw dropped, and a gasp escaped their lips. Let's just say Delilah and Luca enjoyed their ice cream for the rest of the morning.
