It was another school day. As usual I woke up earlier to avoid seeing my father. I met up with Shoto who lived a couple houses away and went to eat breakfast with him.
We've been doing this routine for a couple of weeks which we both enjoyed. None us had to see our fathers first thing in the morning which was really nice and convenient.
"(Y/N)." Shoto said a bit hesitantly as we were on our way to school, "You never sang the song you promised me."
"Oh, right!" I exclaimed. I then turned to glance in all directions, seeing that no one was near and that school was a few meters away I suggested, "Wanna hear it now?"
His eyes lit up like a little kid on Christmas. Shoto had told me in the past that my songs have this thing to them, that they can give peace to an anxious soul and whatnot. Coming from Shoto I was confused on how to take it. It was an un-Shoto thing to say but he's an honest guy, so I believe him.
It's not the first or eighth time he's heard me sing. Actually the first time we spoke, I was singing in the hall thinking no one was there and I found him there leaning against the wall with his aloof expression.
(Flashback)~
"You're (L/N) (Y/N), the new student right?" he had asked me seriously but there was a slight softness to his tone.
I nodded. "Yes, and you must be Todoroki Shoto. Pleasure to meet you. Pardon if I disturbed you with my voice. And if it's not too much to ask would you please not mention it to anyone."
"Why not?" he asked expressionless, "You have a talent for singing. It's enchanting in a way. Would that perhaps be your second quirk?"
Right... he like most people would assume that. I haven't shown my second quirk in front of my classmates, reason for that is because I don't know how to use it well enough.
When younger, many used to think my singing was my quirk claiming it charmed people who would hear it. Hearing them say it made me feel melancholic.
I shook my head sadly, "I wish it were maybe then everything would be different."
"How so?" he asked, I was a bit stunned. He was quiet, never the prying type. We haven't even talked since I came to UA. Yet, I'm not bothered by his question. I find it odd but I feel no hypocrisy from him. I feel like I can trust him in a way.
"It's a long story..."
"I have time, why don't we make a deal. I tell you how I got my scar and you tell me what you mean by everything being different?"
His suggestion made me even more shocked. Is this what it felt when friendship was about to bloom between two people? "Why are you interested? I believe there are far more interesting things than me."
"You have that same stare I do. The look of resentment and sadness. You also don't use one of your quirks. You're like me in a way."
"Like you huh?" I smiled wryly, "Maybe we are." I said staring at his grey and turquoise eyes.

As I finished singing, Shoto's cheeks were covered by a light blush. He awkwardly clapped yet softly smiled at me. Though just when I was about to ask him what he thought we got interrupted by loud cheers. I panicked and so did Shoto.
"(Y/N)!" Shouts Uraraka joyfully, "That was beautiful!"
I was speechless and a blushing mess. Great more people know... "Thank you Uraraka." I spoke in my usual tone. "I appreciate the compliment."
