The beams of sunlight exposed through my bedroom's thin silky curtains urged the irritation of getting out of bed. Its Sunday morning, just two days after Vera's birthday party and I was already beginning to dread the week ahead. I longed for the weekend.

Recalling the schedule I have today alarmed my drowsy body to quickly head for the shower. After what seemed like an eternity to choose the best suitable attire, I then finish touch-ups on my light make-up, and quickly glance over to the clock, "shit."

"Aren't you already late?" Vera shouted from the kitchen as I hurried out of my bedroom, grabbing my purse on the way out.

"Coming!" I call out to her as I scurry through the apartment looking for my ballet flats to match my outfit. I was meeting up with Hwang Hyunjin today for the first time properly since Friday. He had texted the night before and asked to meet up at a café in the city. I could already feel the butterflies in my stomach going crazy. I was both excited and nervous since it was going to just be the two of us.

"Quickly May! The next bus arrives in five minutes," Vera shouts again from the kitchen. I shoot her a quick smile before dashing out of the apartment and down the staircase. I take two steps at a time ripping through the ground floor entrance and onto the street. The bus stop was the end of our block and luckily, I got there just in time.

The bus pulled into the stop just as I arrived. I swiped my bus card and ventured to take my usual spot three seats from the back, window side. As soon as I settled down, I released a heavy sigh of relief. I made it. My phone then buzzed a notification in my hold. I turned it over and swiped up to reveal a message from the guy I expected.

H: I'm here. U?

I smiled and quickly typed an apology for my delay and then tucked my phone back into my purse.

M: Sorry, I'll be there soon.

I was seriously on the verge of nerves. I had spent the whole morning picking out the perfect outfit with Vera. She concluded our session with a cream-coloured dress, with long sleeves and ballet flats to match.

The bus ride didn't take long to reach the side of town in which Hyunjin and I agreed to meet. The bus ride only took a few minutes and before I knew it, I was pushing the glass door open into the café. The smell of coffee beans and sweet cakes filled the air as I smiled and greeted the barista and workers of the café. The café was fairly quiet and there wasn't a hoard of customers.

I spotted Hyunjin perched at the table in the far corner near the large windows. I walked over to his table to join him. As I got closer, I noticed his outfit looked entirely out of a fashion magazine. He wore a white button-up, which was rolled up to his elbows, showcasing his refined and toned arms. This was paired with long black denim pants and designer shoes to top off.

I suddenly tugged at the purse I was holding and began rethinking whether this was a good idea. 'I am seriously underdressed right now!' I thought to myself. I did look decent but compared to Hyunjin's attire, I look nowhere near his style.

"You're here" a voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked up at Hyunjin who was standing over me, "Please have a seat." I smiled and took a seat on the chair opposite his.

"I ordered two lattes if that's alright with you," he says.

"That's perfectly fine."

A few minutes passed by and the drinks arrived and were placed in front of us.

The waitress flashed her pearly white teeth at Hyunjin before placing a hand on his right bicep, "would you like anything else?" she slurs her words and I can't help but watch intently at their interaction. 'He doesn't buy into stuff like this right...' I thought.
